Our family, through the Keim's, has been on the same sections of land since 1828. We're one of the last 4 families (I think) left in Wayne Co, Ohio, still on the family land. Hi list! Cindy keeps coming up with such good questions!! She asks if Jacob Kime Sr. ever was in Seneca Co. Ohio. Let me first say that 4 1/2 years ago I inherited Kime information when my mother-in-law died. This is what gave me the "gene bug". The research had been done by Edward B. Kime (1911-1996) and given to the rest of the family without much documentation. His son Edward, Jr. now has all his father's research papers and documents. We have slowly been sharing this information. Let me share what Edward Jr. sent to me Feb. 1998: " I have copies of land transactions starting with Valentine and going through the purchases and transfers between Jacob and his sons in Seneca, Oh. in 1825. These documents seem to show that he went to OH with the family, purchased 320 acres from the US govenment and promptly transferred that acreage in four parcels to his sons." Edward Jr. also found a marriage date of Jacob Kime and Euphemia Hodges, Dec. 18, 1827 in Jefferson County, Virginia (now W.V.) So Jacob left Ohio by 1827. If you check the on line info from Bureau of Land Management we find: April 1, 1825, Jacob Kime bought 320 acres in Seneca Co. (N1/2,Sec32,Twp.2-N,Range 14-E) April 1, 1825 Jacob Kime bought 90.7 Acres, Seneca Co. (E1/2SW, Sec6,Twp2-N,Range 15-E) April 1, 1825, John Kime bought 80 acres, Seneca Co. Valentine Kimes Sr. Valentine Kimes, Jr David G. Kimes David Francis Kimes William Francis Kimes William Francis Kimes was born the 20th of November, 1906 in Hanford, Kings County, California. He married Mayme Maxine Burris the 22nd of May, 1930 at the Burris Ranch near Hanford, Kings County, California. Her legal name is Mayme but she goes by Maymie. Bill had a lengthy career in education. He pioneered the Reef-Sunset Union Elementary School District in the oil boom-town of Avenal, Kings County, California. He started as the teaching principal with Maymie and two others completing the teaching staff. His career culminated in a 20 year tenure as Assistant Superintendent at Orange Coast Community College where he transformed an abandoned army air base into a full college campus. Bill and Mayme spent the greater part of their first ten years at their Rocking K ranch above Mariposa, California compiling, "John Muir, A Reading Bibliography." This has become the foremost reference tool for researchers and collectors of John Muir and is found in major libraries across the United States. William died the 18th of February, 1998 in Santa Rosa, California after battling prostate cancer and having several strokes. They had three children. The only clues found as to Kimes's identity were: He must have come from WI - it mentions a "Wisconsin immigrant farm boy" It seems he lived in California when he was older. # 105 - hints at KIMES's age..... at boy during 1866-1879 #128 - Maymie B. must have been Kimes's wife. Does anyone have ANY idea who this William Kimes is?
