She would have been around 11 yrs. of age and not yet married. (since she and Daniel married in 1859) Since they married in Tuscarawas Co, OH, I think I'd start looking in that county to see what ARNOLDs were living there. Try 1860 since that's the closest to the date the couple married. Also wonder if "Amish & Amish Mennonite Genealogies" by Hugh F. Gingerich and Rachel W. Kreider, would be of help with the ARNOLD surname. Are ARNOLDs listed in that reference? AND, look at the names of Phoebe and Daniel's children. Any given names NOT common to Daniel's family MIGHT be names of Phoebe's parents and/or siblings. Hope this helps.

The husband of Christiana is in fact Jacob Koub and not Kaub. The Kaub spelling occurs on several websites, but their headstones say Koub. Documents located for descendants are all with Koub spelling. Lloyd Farris

Comment: Since my source of DJH was silent on the wife of Daniel KEIM, but list spouses of his parents and his children, may indicate a transitional period in Daniel's material status. Just a thought. Or that was his "brick wall". Art

Jacob KEIM at that point in history could have been an "Elder" in the church or group of churches, performing the same functions as a minister (marriages, baptisms, funerals ect). This was a common practice in the early churches such as the COB -Church of the Brethren, Progressive Brethren and others. Many of the names mentioned in Cindy's Subject: surnames in Tuscarawas Co. are connected to both churches as well as the Mennonite and Amish groups of the present day. Art

I am having trouble getting this posted, so don't be surprised if it gets through several times. Art, I cannot give you any information about Phoebe Arnold as she is my "brick wall". Cindy suggested she might have been a cousin of Anna Arnold who married Silas Clark Keim, but I have not been able to verify that. She was my great grandmother and is buried in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. There are a lot of Keims buried there. Thank you for your help. Cindy, Sure wish I could place this as "my" Jacob Keim, but I have no evidence that he was in the ministry. I do know that he taught at Ashland College in Ohio which is affiliated , I beleive with the Mennonite Church. There sure are a lot of coinidences though..... My Jacob Keim was born in Holmes County, Ohio in 1848, although the family did move around and some children are noted as born in Tuscawaras. Jacob had a brother, Josiah KEIM who was a minister of the Progressive Bretheren Church. They are from Nicholas Keim's line and many of the surnames are familiar. Jacob's mother was Lydia DOMER (no Jacob that I know of, but I am kind of at a brick wall with this line) and his Aunt Christiana married a Jacob KAUB. Yoder and Hostetler surnames associated with this family. If anyone has any insights innto this, would love to hear from you! Carla

But, since he died AFTER 1920, how about info given on his death certificate.... it might tell WHERE he was born. If the death certificate yields no information, you might be able to track him with censuses? Try to find out where each of his children were born, then where he married, etc. Oh, the family of Jacob and Sarah (Hicks) KIMES was in Clinton county, IA when the 1870 census was taken. But they moved to Johnson Co before 1880. Perhaps one of their descendants had a Jacob born in OH!!!!! They lived in Meigs Co for a number of years before moving west. This isn't my branch so those subscribers that have researched this line will know specific dates. How about it Mitzie, Don, and Richard?
How many are familiar with GenExchange? I've never explored this site until tonight when someone pointed me to listings for a cemetery in OH. In my case, I went to the main web site (http://www.genexchange.org/us.cfm), chose the State I was interested in, then picked the county of interest, and then found a multitude of other data listed BESIDES the cemetery I was interested in! AND all to view online! I heartily recommend GenExchange if you've never explored the site! GenExchange & Surname Registry http://www.genexchange.org/us.cfm
