The author Bettinger is a common name within the COB. Some day I would like to go to the annual conference of the COB to gather info on the KIME/KEIM/KIMES at their genealogy display, which I've been told has been quite extensive. Will try to locate a copy of this via other connections. Art

    2. Cindy
    3. This came across one of the other mailing lists to which I belong. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ We would like to invite you to visit The POORHOUSE STORY website (a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American poorhouses) at http://www.poorhousestory.com We have just posted some interesting material about: How Revolutionary Soldiers Guarding "Conventioners" (or Prisoners of War) Came to be Housed in the Poorhouse at Frederick, Maryland in 1780. For people new to The POORHOUSE STORY..... DIRECTIONS: At the homepage (linked above)click on POORHOUSES BY STATE, then click on MARYLAND in the table of states. You will find this story at the top of the page. There are other pages on our website which may help you gain more insight into the history of poorhouses. They are linked off the homepage on the left and include: HISTORY, LETTER TO GENEALOGISTS, FEATURED ARTICLES, and NEWS ALERTS (where we have a petition to sign regarding attempts to preserve an old poorhouse). We welcome you comments or submissions of material for posting on the website. Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)

How about looking at the 1870 Bethlehem Twp, Northampton Co, PA census; Christianna and Jacob married in 1865. Seems there would be children born between 1865 and George, in 1872.

Were their children all grown and moved out? I assume they had at least one child since LoriAnn Wolfe's Frankenfield tree included Keim thru this marriage.

    2. Harold Davey
    3. While the USGS does not list Kimesville per se, it does show a Kimesville Lake as being on its Kimesville 7.5' x 7.5' map. Kimesville Lake is Lat. 355645N and Long. 0793248W. On the GuilfordCo Historical Documentation map, Philip Kime's land is shown along a small stream that flows into Little Stinking Quarter Creek. The center of his land is abt 7,000' W and 13,000' N of the SE corner of GuilfordCo. Also, I have the following note: "Phillip bought 50 A. on Stinking Quarter, a creek that runs through the SE corner of Guilford Co, more or less parallel to NC 62, and then on into Alamance where it eventually runs into the Haw River, a little south of Graham." Harold Subject: [KEIM] Kimeville and Philip Kime Date: Tue, 23 Jan 2001 16:36:13 -0500 From: "wpddoc96" <wpddoc96@home.com> To: KEIM-L@rootsweb.com Does anyone on the List know of any information that connects Philip Kime to Kimeville? I have always assumed that is where his property was located but I have never seen any documentation of this. The Land Grant for 50 acres, which he obtained from the state of North Carolina in 1789, is documented in Book 5 page 136 and 137 of the Salisbury District Superior Court Minutes. The minutes of this court action describe the property in terms of distance and direction from various relative landmarks such as trees, stones etc and states that it is on the waters of Little Stinking Quarter. ____

Help!! > The tricky part about finding info for Johnstown, PA ancestors is knowing where to look. After March 6, 1804, Johnstown was in Cambria Co; before, in Somerset Co. Since the listed year is 1806, seems the 1810 census might be of help. Cambria Co Web site doesn't have early census info online, but perhaps someone has access to the 1810 census for Cambria Co and can lookup Jacob's family!
