Penny, I have a copy of this book, although it is not my line. I deals with the line of John Keim, b. 1749, (son of Nicholas b. 1719) who m. Susanna de Benneville and their descendants. If anyone has any specific questions regarding this source, I would be happy to try to do look ups - it's a little slow oing as it is not indexed. Carla

Does anyone know of the book by H.M. Keim "Acct. of the Keim Family", 26 pgs., 1874? I saw it listed at Higgison. Thanks, Penny

Notes for Loyd Edward Tinker: Mom can remember grandpa talking about moving from Cocke Co, TN to MO in a covered wagon as a young boy. This move is estimated to have been just after the turn of the century, approx. 1903. In the obit, it stated that he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, but I am only aware of 2 brothers who also made the move to MO. Did his other brothers and sisters die in TN before the move? Or did they die on the way or after settling in southern MO?

I've been noticing that all the responses to "Where do you fit?" are MY GGG -GGGGG grandparents are = What happened to the Parents, Grandparents and all the in family in between (and the siblings). I realize some are still living. You can always put "Private" in place of dates. But I personally would like to connect the 'data-sender' to his/her Keim-Kime-Kimes full line. My connection is; Mitzie (Campbell) m. Kay Chace Kimes (1928 - Present) s/o Leo G. Kimes (1904-1969) m. Carrie Erma (Chace) s/o Lester Lee Kimes (1872-1953) m. Nancy (Evans) s/o Heinrich Keim-Kimes (1732-1802) m. Anna Catharina (Reber) s/o Johannes Keim (abt 1675-1753) m. Maria Elizabeth (Boller-in) Hope to see more about Keim-Kime-Kimes (etc) people that "fit"... Mitzie
Bill, In Hardesty, Meigs Co.Ohio, Abraham is listed as settling there in 1811. My research in Bath Co.Va. seems to confirm this or 1812. There is also an article about this "Old" Jacob and fighting Indians, titled "An Incident in Pioneer Life". In it is mentioned the Indian Wars. When I ask the timing on these wars, (of course every one is vague) but 1810-1820 seems to be the time frame. I realize this is just a wild guess. It does call Jacob an early settler. I have printed copies of these in my computer, if you want I can Email them to you. Jacob paid taxes in 1810 in Athens Co.. I am told Meigs Co used to be a part of Athens Co. I don't have copies of the 1810 census because my lineage (Abraham) was in Bath Co. Va. in 1810. I never found any obits or death records dating that far back. One place I didn't look, is for old rural churches with records going back that far. I think it would be unlikely but one never knows. If I can be of any help, feel free to ask. Don

Cindy, Kime and Kimes were separate lines in LaSalle Co., with no connection that I could determine. I think that there was also a Keim line there also. Fortunately for my research, these families were wonderfully consistent about the spelling of their surnames. Bill Bojanowski Highland, IL
In 1814, living in Meigs Co., Ohio were two households: Heinrich's son Abraham Kimes B 1782, wife Nancy (Evans) with Abraham and Mary O'Hare's son Abraham B 1805. Abraham and Nancy's son John, born in 1814, (Jacob 1817 and Mary Ann 1818). These are my lineage and I am very fortunate to have Abraham's will. Also living there in 1814 was one "Old" Jacob Kimes ( ?? B.1772 Heinrich's son??) wife Margaret. Don, Thanks for your input; your conclusions make sense to me, but I have these questions: How do you know that they were living in Meigs Co. in 1814? Have you checked any Ohio census for 1810? What county was Meigs part of then? Have you been able to check Meigs Co. obits or death records for the 1800's? Thanks, Bill Bojanowski Highland, IL

Margaret "Peggy" Reitzell was first married to Adam Reitzell Sr while they were still in the Palatinate. Her son was Adam Reitzell Jr and he became the stepson of Philip Kime after Peggy married him about 1753. The story is that Adam Reitzell Sr died on the voyage to North America. Adam Reitzell Jr obtained a land grant for 150 acres adjoining his stepfather in 1789. I have never seen any mention of Peggy Reitzell's maiden name and I believe it is unknown.
