When did Lucinda m. the Roger/Rodgers? If it was before 1870 that would explain why she wasn't "at home" in the census. Marriages at age 17 were becoming more unusual then, but not unlikely.

Back in March there was some discussion about Emanuel S. Keim (Born 29-Mar-1834 in Somerset, PA, being the son of Samuel Keim and Catherine Calhenne. I am trying to figure out who Samuel Keim's parents are. I have a Samuel Keim born about 1810, son of Samuel Keim and Anna Blough, who married to Catherine Speicher (???) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

Several days back we mentioned Harrison, William, and Jacob Keim that owned land near the Keim Cemetery in Thayer Co, NE. Delmer Keim identified those mentioned as sons of Joseph Keim, b. 01 September 1823 in Somerset Co, PA. David Keim, another subscriber to this list, explained that the Keim Cemetery (or burial plot) was located in one corner of a quarter section of ground that was owned in the early 1900's by Jacob Keim who was a brother to his gg-grandfather Joseph Keim. I forwarded this information to Delmer and he mentioned it to his cousins. Following is Delmer's last email to me: Cindy, I was telling my cousin about this; he went down to take a look and it is just like David Keim said. Following is the note Delmer rec'd from his cousin: > > We went to Omaha today by way of US 81 and stopped by after we found > The Lone Pine Farm. One of the distant cousins from our branch (Peter Kime(s), b. 1781, found this info: 1880 census, Adair Co, Washington Twp, Iowa Joseph age 62 Emeline age 48 Eva age 7 Lewis age 5 >From prior research, I know this to be Peter and Nancy KIMES's son, Joseph (b. 1818 in PA) who moved to Adair Co, IA ca 1861. Joseph's first wife died sometime after 1863 and he married Emeline in 1869. I'm wondering if these were their children or some of Joseph's grandchildren. Anyone looking for an Eva Kimes, b. ca 1873 or a Lewis Kimes, b. ca 1875?????? Cindy Kimes

The following has been posted a couple times: "George Keim, grandson of Johannes and grandfather of William R., was born April 10, 1776, and died July 11, 1859. He owned a large farm near Pikeville, now the property of Moses Eberhart (the Eberharts and Keims are intermarried). In 1805 Mr. Keim married Susanna Mensch, born April 10, 1780, and died Aug. 24, 1865, after fifty-four years of wedded life. Both Mr. and Mrs. Keim are buried in a private burial ground on their farm, located in the orchard back of the barn." Cindy, Thanks. I volunteered at the local LDS FHC until the January before last. My work hours changed and I had to stop. I enjoyed it alot. I have alot of notes from Germany on the names I have but nothing that would tell me if they are mine or just the same names. Everyone seemed to name their kids, Jacob, John (Johannes), Gottfried (George), Heinrich (Henry), Philip. And we won't even start on the Marys, etc. <GRIN> I would really like to find how or if he is related to my group. I just have this gut feeling he is but how puzzles me. I had to put my researching on the back burner for a while and I have to reacquaint myself with all of my notes, etc. Some stuff I didn't have the chance to put into my database when I had to stop. Well I have start back with a vengeance, so we'll see what I come up with. Oh to have a huge hammer for these brick walls!!!!! Faye
