Reuben Gilliland was born 09 October 1868 near Larwell, IN (Noble Co, IN), so Mary Ann had married John Gilliland by 1868. The obit on Reuben also lists the name of Rosa KIME's husband as Milton Grubbs. Anyone connect yet? Cindy

Faye sent me a couple emails with some data that might prove helpful to some of you with interests in Easton and/or Northampton Co, PA. She states none of this is copyrighted so am forwarding this to the list with her permission. __________________ Faye writes: In a local history I found a listing for a Susan KEIM. In the marriage license application it states she was born 1824 in Northampton County, with a residence of South Easton, PA. It says she was the daughter of Samuel KEIM and his wife Sally. She had been previously married to a man named DEITERLINE, who died August 1877. This application was for a marriage that took place on 31 May 1893 in Waverly, Lackawanna County, PA to a Simon BIESECKER, resident of Waverly. A second email from Faye included some add'l info: The information I sent you is from a copy of Simon BIESECKER and Susan KEIM DEITERLINE's marriage license from Lackawanna Co, PA. On it she states that she was 69 years old (1824) born in Northampton County. That she was a resident of South Easton, PA; which is in Northampton County. She states that her father is Samuel KEIM and his wife was named Sally She was previously married to a man named DEITERLINE who died August 1877. Simon states that he was 69 years old also. Born in Pittston, Luzerne County, PA (Pittston is halfway between Wilkes Barre, Luzerne County and Scranton Lackawanna County, PA) He states that he is a resident of Waverly, Lackawanna County, PA. (Waverly is not far from the Milwaukee section of Lackawanna County that I mentioned in my post to the list the week of 23 April 2001.) He is the son of Conrad BIESECKER and Margaret SWARTZ. He was previously married to a Melissa MILLER ( I got this from the local history) She died June 1892. Simon and Susan were married on 31 May 1893 in Waverly, Lackawanna County, PA and it was written across the top of the application "Don't Publish" which meant not to put in the paper. Faye
Recieved this information today and thought I would share. I believe the poster to be a daughter of John and Nola, who had a total of 5 children, 4 girls and 1 boy. I had never known Eula's last name so this is new information to me, hope it helps someone else as well. :) Kim > >George Columbus Kimes >B. Faye wrote asking if I knew any more about Susan and her family? I don't, but I DO have these folks that were ALL born in Northampton Co. Perhaps this list will offer add'l clues! Most of the long-time subscribers to this list know that several of us are keeping info on ALL the KEIMs, KIMEs, KIMESes, etc.... AND, we try to answer your queries in a timely manner.... BUT, sometimes the questions get lost in the mass of emails we receive. SO, if you have posted a query to this list and have NOT rec'd an answer, please repost your question(s) periodically until SOMEONE acknowledged your query. Thanks for being patient. The "staff"
Ran across some KIMEs brousing through the online obits at the Fulton County [IN] Library's website and have been working on this family all week. Now I need some help from others! Here's what I've found so far: Descendants of David Kime 1 David Kime b. 1836 IN d: 1862 .. +Mary Ann Geiger b. 1838 IN m. 1860 d: 13 January 1914 north of Rochester, IN ... 2 Daniel Edward Kime b: 08 September 1861 Larwell, Noble Co, IN d: 17 November 1936 Rochester, Fulton Co, IN ....... +Susan Mitchell m: 14 December 1892 ... 2 Rosa Kime ....... +// McGuire m: Bef. 1914 ... *2nd Husband of Rosa Kime: ....... +// Grubb m: Bef. 1936 Rosa and Edward Kime's father died in 1862. Edward was born in 1861, consequently, there should have been guardians appointed with the children being so young. Checking the Noble Co website, there was one such guardian record listed, AND, the info states the father was David Kime: "Kime Rose, heir of David Kime, guardian Daniel Zeigler. Filed 17 Oct 1876." http://www.usgennet.org/usa/in/county/noble/Guardian/nobguard-kq.html No guardian was appointed for Daniel. In 1876, he would have been 15 and in some states, children over 14 were allowed to choose their guardian. This might explain why none was "appointed" for him. But the question, "WHY was no guardian appointed until 1876?" bothers me. I checked the 1870 IN census at my local library; found a listing for Daniel Edward Kime, as follows: Daniel E. Kime, age 9, born IN, living in Richland Twp, Whitley Co, IN. There were NO other KIMEs listed for that particular page of the census and I couldn't remember the name of his step-father, John Gilliland, to check where he was living. Also rec'd info from a lookup request on a David Kime listed on the 1860 IN census. That info turned out to be the David in question. He and Mary A. KIME were living in Richland Twp, Whitley Co, IN. Possibly the same residence where Daniel was living in 1870. I wonder if Mary had remarried by 1870 and Daniel was perhaps living with a step-father????? The obit on Mary told she married 2nd a John Gilliland. They divorced and she later married a Fred Hicks. The latter marriage ended in a divorce also. As for David Kime, info in one of the obits said he died in 1862 during the War. It doesn't specifically say he SERVED in the Civil War, but there were some David KIME(S)es, etc. that served in Indiana. I did a search on Google for: "David Kime" Whitley One of the two hits was in reference to the Civil War: Civil War Soldiers ... is the only complete roster of Whitley county soldiers in existence. The Colonel ... James L. Johnson John H. Kendall David Kime Isaac Kime, Hiram Lantz Jacob S ... www.kneller.com/WhitleyIN/civil001.html - 8k - Cached - Similar pages I couldn't access the above site! Perhaps someone else can link to this site and info me of what it shows! But, with the above names of David Kime & ISAAC KIME this provides yet another clue to David's possible ancestry! Could David Kime be connected to Valentine (1711-1808) KIME's line? Hoping someone can help? Cindy Kimes ckimes@mvillage.com P.S. Not related; just LOVE genealogical puzzles!
There was also THIS Samuel Keim: Descendants of Samuel Keim 1 Samuel Keim b: 1810 Somerset Co, PA d: 1887 Lagrange Co, IN .. +Catherine Berger m: 17 April 1834 Holmes Co, OH ... 2 Elizabeth Keim ... 2 Rachel Keim ... 2 David Keim Kim Kimes wrote: > > I am trying to figure out who Samuel Keim's parents are. You keep doing this until the desired info is obtained. So in this case, take off the end - g0000005.html#I124323 and you get http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~quick/d0042/ If that doesn't work, take off - d0042/ and try http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~quick/ Using this trick doesn't ALWAYS achieve the desired results, but it frequently helps!

Can someone tell what happened to the free databases on Ancestry.com? Prior to the end of April, the "Ancestry Daily News" always listed 4-5 "Databases of the Day" that were FREE to search for about 10 days. Now all the listings seem to be available to subscribers only. Did I miss an announcement? Cindy Kimes
Ancestry announced they would no longer allow for free viewing. It is now only for subscribers. Bummer. I guess too many people were like me and waited until they updated something so I could look for free. Still looking for descendants of Henry Kimes. HENRY KIMES was born ca August 1823 in Dauphin Co, PA. He married LYDIA DAVIS (thought to be a daughter of JAMES DAVIS and MARY GARVIN) 23 March 1845 in Kosciusko Co, IN. Their children were: i. MARY ANN KIMES, b. 1847, IN. ii. NANCY JANE KIMES, b. Abt. 1848, IN. iii. JOHN KIMES, b. 1851, IA. iv. JASPER KIMES, b. 1854, IA. v. NOAH KIMES, b. 1857, IN. Kosciusko Co marriage records include listings for a Henry Kimes that married Catherine Coens/Cowens on 21 July 1861 and another marriage record for a Henry Kimes, married to a Martha Smith on 22 March 1868. Unknown if these are the same Henry that married Lydia. I don't know WHEN Henry died and he may have left the area. Anyone think they MIGHT connect? Cindy Kimes
