Many of us are missing a great opportunity for help in finding out more about our ancestor's origins. The Migration Site at http://www.migrations.org/index.html is an excellent place to search for family surnames OR the location in which we know they resided. I did a search for the KEIM surname today and found only three listings! If YOU haven't added your known ancestor to this site, please consider submitting the information. It MAY help someone else identify their ancestor, AND, eventually, YOU too may find your ancestor's relatives listed. Being able to find information and clues online is only possible if EACH of us adds what WE know to the online community. Please contribute something to the sites available on the internet. Thanks. Cindy Kimes

Hi David Please list the children of Jacob and Sarah Hicks Kimes. I have Cora, Scott Winfield, Mary V, Florence, Nancy Hulda, William James, Abraham(Abrum) and Charles Albert. where did I go wrong. Gene Kimes
In the 1900 Warren Co. Iowa census, Sarah is listed as having seven children born, six still living. I have documented the six and last week I found the seventh in Clinton Co. Iowa. He was buried on the old family farm along with a granddaughter of Jacob and Sarah. The girl belonged to their oldest daughter Mary (Molly) and her husband Charles Rundall. There is one stone. On the left side is written: Elson H. son of J.and S. Kimes Died Aug. 9, 1863. Age 1 M. 19 D On the right side: Ella Infant Daug. of Chas. and M.V. Rundall. Died Nov 18, 1869. A side story I found interesting, one Louis Fox and his brother ? immigrated from Germany in 1854. They got gold fever and sailed around South America to California in 1856. They were successful enough to move to Iowa and buy the farm from Jacob and Sarah in 1871. 170 acres for $4650.00. They also bought additional land nearby. The farm is still in the Fox family. Louis agreed to amend the abstract to provide that the graves would always be preserved and maintained. 60 or 70 years ago Louis' son, Henry, poured a concrete slab over the site and mounted the head and foot stones in the concrete. It turned out a nice appearing and secure grave site. Just this spring a great grandson ( in his 50's ) of the founder installed a well built heavy duty fence around the graves. As we stood there he made a statement that impressed me. "You know" he said " My great grandfather made a promise and he kept it. My grandfather kept that promise, My father kept that same promise. This spring when the fence was falling down, I knew it was my turn to keep that promise made so long ago. I felt it was an honor to build that fence". Thanks to the Fox Family!! Don Kimes

----- Original Message ----- From: Nancy Delanty Sent: Sunday, May 20, 2001 8:14 PM My KIME's came from Berks Co., PA(1700's) to Seneca Co., NY (1800's) to Warren Co., IA (1900's). I only know with certainty back to the mid 1800's . The rest is internet research from LDS and personal websites. >From: "Diana Davis" >To: >Subject: KIME research >Date: Mon, 14 May 2001 20:57:25 -0400 > >Where were your KIME people from? Remember, women weren't "looked upon" as they are today. They weren't allowed to vote or own property for many years. It depended on the time and what State one lived in.
