    3. There was possibly a problem with the form you tried to use. This email list only accepts text messages. The BEST place to post obituaries is http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.keim Once you "go" to the link, choose Obituary for "View Message Type" Posting your obituaries on the above site will "get" to more people than posting them just to this list. 3. Do you know if these folks are related to your line? They came from Ohio to Fulton Co, IL, too, and your Daniel lived near Cuba (IL) in 1860. Were they brothers? Descendants of Royal P. 1. Re: [KEIM] Our genealogy friend, Don Kimes
    2. Don was my 1C1R (first cousin once removed) - my grandmother & his father were sister & brother. It was thru this list that we found each other - my profound gratitude for that. Grandma lost touch with her family after her parents died. Don helped me in so many ways with our shared genealogy. He not only brought me up to date on family history, Don also share family photos he had & identified ones I had inherited from Grandma with no identification. I smile as I write this, remembering how excited he was to receive a copy of a photo I sent of his parent's on their family farm of the 1930s. At this time, I am so glad I spoke with him during the past year. Be well, Don, until we meet again. 1. Re: KEIM-D Digest V05 #26 -Spelling of name Keim-Kime-Kimes-Kymes
    2. One place in the K&A papers it mentions that the original name in Germany was Keim. It said that in all cases where they had written papers the name at the top of the page would be spelled in various ways, but in all cases at the bottom of the page where it required a signature it would be signed Keim. It said the various spellings was due to the ignorance of the clerk doing the interview. In the case of my family - My father's side of the family were definitely German. They spoke the German language. The oldest papers that I have seen that are authentic, the name was signed Henry Kime, who died in Bath County, VA in 1802. He is my third great grandfather. My second great grandfather went by the name of Valentine Kime. His son, Valentine, signed his name Valentine Kimes. That spelling of the name is the way the present day family spells it. A son of Henry Kime spelled his name Conrad Kyme, but I think his descendants (at least some of them) signed their name Kime. It makes doing genealogy interesting.
