    3. Someone sent me this tidbit some months back: From Belmont & Jefferson Counties [OH], Chapter XIX: History of Belmont County: Company B, 98th Regiment O.V.L. "This company was enlisted at St. Clairsville and organized with regiment at Camp Mingo, near Steubenville, August 22, 1862..." a "J.B.D. Keim" is listed on page 207 as one of the company’s privates. _________________________ Doing some checking on the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System <http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/index.html> we find: Krim, John B. D. B Private Private Seems to be a match. Evidently a typo on the website or in the book. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! 3. I ran across a Mary Kims in Philadelphia [PA] on the the 1860 census. Listed w/her is an eight yr. old female, Archimena Kims. The census lists her b. in PA but that could be an error. They appear to be living in a boarding house. Mary Kims age 28, b. PA. 3. I looked in some resource materials and found a notation that Robert Wardel (Rev. Soldier) was buried in Hibernia Cemetery, Clark Co., IN (no dates). That would be the father of these WARDELL boys probably. -----Original Message----- From: Cindy Kimes [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, January 17, 2006 9:20 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [KEIM] More descendants of Philip Kime of NC Ran across another mention of the names KIMES. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ On http://www.dentongenealogy.org/Lorenzo%20Dow%20Montgomery.htm the name KIMEs appears. Reading the information we find this child was the son of a William Gabriel MONTGOMERY and Hannah Catherine WARDELL. Naturally I wondered if these parties were related, and a check of census data indicates Hannah Catherine WARDELL must have been a granddaughter of Hannah KIME JOHNSON WARDELL. 3. From Goodspeed's, History of Northwest Arkansas, page 1146 http://www.chrisanddavid.com/LongGenealogy/longfamil/pafn09.htm D. K. and Lydia E. (Adkins) Elkins, were natives of Virginia. The family moved to Vernon County, MO., before 1850, (actually after 13 July 1850) and D. K. died there in 1856. In connection with farming he was a mechanic and cabinetmaker, and worked at those trades. Eight of his eleven children are still living: Furibin, of Washington County; J. K., of California; Mrs. Nancy E. Kimes, of this county; Mrs. Phoebe Kimes, of this county; Mrs. Lucinda Reed, of Barry County, Mo.; Mrs. Louisa A. Kimes, of this county; Leander and L. W. Elkins, of Livingston, Ill. The grandparents, Jacob and Phoebe Adkins, were of English descent. The former was born in Jamestown Colony, Va., in 1758, and died in 1862, and the latter was born about 1768. They moved from Jamestown Colony to New River, and lastly to Wayne County, Va., where they engaged in farming. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! 3. The following post appeared July 2005 on the Smith Co, TN email list. By studying the contents and comparing info to census data, we find Sarah Elizabeth Saphronia Driver was the dau of Moses Duke Driver and Louisa Sherrill. She was still living w/her parents in 1860, in Marshall Co, TN. The email listed her b. 28 February 1849; 1870 census she is still living w/her mother, single and age 21. I'm trying to locate Sarah (Sallie?) on the 1880 census. She's NOT w/her mother. Anyone have any idea which KIMES she married? 3. I haven't posted to this list in quite a while, so I thought I'd resend my Kiem ancestors and see if I can make a connection: Christian Wilhelm Keim was born in Prussia around 1816. He married Augusta M. Shank, also from Prussia, and they emigrated to the U.S. and landed in New York City @ 1845-46. He is listed in New York City city directories starting in 1846 as William Keim, music teacher. Their children were: John b. @ 1844 Sarah (Rosa?) b. @ 1845 Henry b. @ 1849 (my great-grandfather) Isaac b. @ 1853 Matilda b. @ 1854 Emma b. @ 1855 George b. @ 1856 Jane b. @ 1857 Henrietta b. @ 1858 Augusta b. @ 1861 The only things I know about any of Henry's siblings are that John fought in the Civil War (we have a photocopy of a letter he wrote to Henry from his camp) and that Henry and George had a flower shop on Prince Street in New York in the 1870s/1880s. Henry married a woman named Mary Agnes. They had four children: Adelaide, b. Feb. 14, 1879; Sarah and Katie, who both died as children; and Chauncey. Adelaide is my grandmother. She had a successful theater career from the late 1800s to about 1921, the year my father was born. Henry was her manager. It would be wonderful to find a descendent from one of Henry's nine siblings on this list! Molly Murnane

Then the 1900 census lists Henry (Harry) born August 1853 and Kate, August 1854; Henry's (Harry) parents both born in PA. Perhaps someone will "spot" a Henry (Harry) KIMES/KEIM/KIME etc on an 1860 census. Born August 1853, he should be listed at age 6. 1. Re: KEIM-D Digest V05 #79
    2. Keims from Indiana County, PA The reason that you are unable to find John Michael & Susan Fleck Keim from Indiana County, PA, is that they did not reside in Indiana County before the 1860 census. In addition, the name was spelled differently with each census. Census - 17 Aug 1850 Clarion Co, Monroe Twp, PA page 63 Dwelling 888 Families in order of visitation - 907 Line 30-35 John KEIME 45, Farmer, born Germany Susannah 28, born PA Mary 8, PA John 6, PA William 4, PA (my great grandfather) James, 1, PA (this is James Edward or Edward James - it switches with various census') Census - 15 Aug 1860 Jefferson Co, Winslow Twp, PA P.O. Brown's Mills Page 35, Line 38-40 Page 36, Line 1-6 (16 Aug 1860) Dwelling 224, family 224 (this is difficult to make out) John M. Keim, 56, Farmer, born PA (PA is probably incorrect) Susan, 36 born PA, Louisa, 16, PA (this is Mary from the 1850 census. Her name was Mary Louisa) Thomas, 15, PA (this is John from the 1850 census. His name was John Thomas) Conrad, 13, PA (this is William from the 1850 census. His name was William Conrad --- my great grandfather) Edward, 11, PA (this is James from the 1850 census. His name was James Edward) Emmeline 9, PA Amelia Ann, 6, PA Frederick, 0, PA Census - 1870 Green Twp, Indiana, PA Page 22 Dwelling 168, Family 168 Kimes, Susan 43, born PA Frederick, 12, PA Jane, 9, PA (this is Hannah Jane or Jennie) I have other information on these people if anyone wants to email me. I have a wedding photo and the original wedding certificate of Mary Louisa Kime and James Wensel. They lived in Clearfield Co, PA. Barbara Clougherty [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected])
