This info on Stephen Kimes and those mentioned in his will brings to mind a Thomas Kimes who was born around this time - Thomas Kimes of Fawn Twp, York Co, PA. Thomas Kimes of Fawn Twp, York Co, PA, was born 1813 - 1820. IF (note "if") the Thomas mentioned in Stephen's will was Stephen's son, that Thomas was born bef 12 August 1822. That's when Stephen married Mrs. Rachel Carswell. Could these two Thomas KIMESes be the same person? --- Cindy Kimes <[email protected]> wrote: > > Back in March I wrote about a Stephen Kimes of W Fallowfield. Back in March I wrote about a Stephen Kimes of W Fallowfield. A fellow subscriber shared this: Stephen Kimes wrote his will on 26 June 1834 and it was proved 12 Nov 1835 in W Fallowfield. He left a widow Rachel and named children William, Franklin, Jacob, Aaron and Olivia who were to inherit the messuages and lot in W Fallowfield where Stephen was living. He also left money to John, Henry, Thomas and Catherine Kimes. The relationship of the latter names was not given but they were probably children. BTW, a "messuage" is - a dwelling house and its adjacent buildings and the adjacent land used by the household __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Wasn't someone "looking" for KIMEs in Monroe Co? Robert and Rebecca KIME were living in Wheatland, Monroe Co, NY, and I also found a John and Eva Johanna KIME living in the area at this same time. Both Robert and John were about the same age and both list their birthplace as England. Looks like they immigrated around the same time, too. Anyone connect? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
Back in 1998, there were some emails sent to this list about this same John Keim. I forgot to state the item found was for the Borough of Columbia, just as the 1998 emails. In a Lancaster Co [PA] history book is listed under taxable inhabitants for 1814-15: John Keim, butcher John is in the section labelled "inmates" I believe someone wrote previously that an "inmate" means he was a married or widowed man who did NOT own land. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Jacob A. Kime of Eaton Co, MI, also had a son named Morton. Jacob was living in Eaton Co in 1900 and 1910. Possibly this was the Morton Kime killed in 1905. Further research is needed on this family line before we can state exactly WHO Morton's parents were. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Our branch is still looking for WILLIAM KIMES, son of DANIEL KIMES and MARY LEIGHTY. He was born 1851 - 1854, probably in Indiana (possibly Iowa). Daniel and Mary married 17 January 1851 in Kosciusko Co, IN, and Daniel moved to Johnson Co, IA, in 1852; Mary probably died sometime before 1854. Has anyone "seen" this William Kimes? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
A couple "new" subscribers have "joined" us recently; this might be a good time to remind everyone of some resources available. 1. A Laura (Copeland) Kimes appears on the 1900 census w/her parents. She is listed as a widow, b. December 1873. In 1900, Laura's parents were living in 10th District, Overton Co, TN, just as the Abraham Pitts Kimes family. Further, several of Abraham and Marietta (Ramsey) Kimes's children married COPELANDs. Does any one know if their son, Elbert, was the KIMES that married Laura Copeland? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
