Over the years we've read quite a bit about Jacob Keim who married Anna Maria Hähn. But we've never heard much about any of Jacob's brothers. Why is that? Thought I might locate some of the KIMESes from my husband's branch while browsing through the 1930 census index. One name caught my eye... a James that appears to be James Madison Kimes, son of George Washington Kimes and Martha F. Kemper. The problem is James's date of death was previously reported to this list as 23 January 1909. The census lists this person as: James M Kimes, age 59, b. in VA, father b. in TX, mother - VA. Don't know if Nancy has rec'd any input yet, but one thing I always thought would be neat (if I visited Berks Co) would be a tour of the area to view places we've had mentioned on this list: 1. headwaters of Manatawny Creek where Johannes supposedly staked out his "plantation" 2. the 'spring house' built by Johannes in 1733 3.
