Hi all, It appears our list is NOW operating on the "new" system. You MAY have not noticed any changes. Good! If you don't know what I'm talking about, Rootsweb sent an email early in August stating the "mailing lists will be moving to a new list management system." Well... we've been moved and things seem to be operating OKAY! If you missed the original announcement, the reason for the move was to offer updated technology, better spam control, and more efficient hosting of the lists. CHANGES YOU MAY NOTICE One change you'll note is the address where the mail comes from. This will pose no problem for most of you unless you're running spam filters. If you use spam filters on your email, you may have to adjust them or put the new address on your "accept" list to prevent it from being caught in your "junk" folder. You'll need to drop the "-L" from the "official" list name. That means the "from" address will be [email protected] not [email protected] Digest subscribers will notice a small difference in the layout, volume and issue numbers of the list digests. Sending messages TO the list will still work using either email address - the old email address <[email protected]> or the new address: [email protected] SPECIAL NOTE: A couple of you were receiving individual messages AND Digests. The "new" system will not allow mail sent to both list posts and digests using the same email address. So if you formerly rec'd both, you have lost one or the other at this point. Because of the way the new software handles the lists, you will have to subscribe to the other mode with an alternate address. (Sorry for the inconvenience.) In closing, IF you have any problems, please contact me privately. I'm here to help. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Alice, I don't recall how I happened to have Maryland as her birthplace, but the 1900 census also lists Sarah Elizabeth Keim EICHNOR's place of birth as Maryland. I guess more research is in order. FIRST NAME WAS PROBABLY JOHN, MIDDLE VALENTINE MK
Another question regarding this line. Jacob Keim had a brother, John Keim who was supposedly married to Maria Frantz. I'm rather puzzled by this. The marriage record from the church lists him as Johannes Keim and old naming patterns claim the name Johannes means "son of JOHN." But their father was named Valentine! One of our subscribers sent this in reference to Jacob Kime, son of Valentine KEIM of Maiden Creek Twp: 1850 census shows the Kime household with Jacob 83M, Euphramia 39F, Samuel 19M and Lainin 53F. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Above refers to Jacob Keim, b: 10 April 1763 Berks Co, PA; and Euphemia Hodges, b: 1808 VA. WHO were Samuel b. ca 1831 and Lainin, b. ca 1797? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! A descendant of Amos Welsh recently wrote asking about the KEIM in her ancestry: > > I recently saw your website while researching my husband's > ancestors. One of his direct ancestors was a Louisa (possibly > aka 'Malinda') Keim who was married to an Amos Welsh in > Fairfield Co, Ohio. She is buried with her > husband in Bloom Twp, Fairfield Co, Ohio. > > I believe she was born Jan 6, 1806 (either in Virginia or Ohio), > and died Nov 12, 1864. Do you have any information on her lineage? > Frequently couples married in the County where the bride lived. So does anyone connect to some KEIMs living in Fairfield Co, OH, around 1826 when Amos and Louisa/Malinda married? Or nearby counties of Pickaway, Licking, Hocking, Perry, or Franklin? Can we offer any clues to help this researcher? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
In case some researchers from this line DON'T have this info... I found Jacob Kime listed on an 1826 tax list for Clinton Twp, Seneca Co, OH. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
My grandmother, Alice Keim Dryden, was the second daughter of Noah G.Keim. She was born in Salisbury, Pennsylvania. I have their daughter Sarah Elizabeth born in Salisbury November 21, 1866. In the 1870 census he was a foundry worker in Lower Turkeyfoot and in the 1880 census he was in Rockford, Gage County, Nebraska. I have additional information on this family if anyone is interested. Does anyone know where they got the names Gassaway and Winfield? Thanks, Alice Thomas
Anyone have further info on a James KEIM in the U.S. before 1700? See: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/md/somerset/court/res1665-68.txt __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/md/allegany/history/local/votedist3.txt lists a Noah G. Keime as a voter in Allegany Co, MD, in 1866. Seems this might be Noah Gassaway Keim as his dau, Sarah Elizabeth is recorded being born in MD. Her birthdate is listed as 21 November 1866. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

Is Schupp the same name as Shope? I had asked whether anyone knew more about Daniel Keim (m. Magdalena Schupp), and someone sent me the following which "sounds like" it could relate to Valentine's son, Daniel, who married Magdalena Schupp. Valentine lived in Maiden Creek Twp. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ In 1814 Daniel Keim and wife Mary (Shope) Keim sold 182 acres of land in Lower Paxtang Tp, Dauphin Co, which Mary had inherited from her father Bernhard Shope, to Adam Shope of Lower Paxtang Tp. If you haven't checked the KEIM archives, here's how to conduct a search: 1. Click on this URL http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl This takes you to the main page for ALL archives. 2. Type the name of the list you wish to search in the box. In our case, "KEIM". 3. Now you are at the location to search the messages posted to the Keim list. Using keywords of your choice, the search will find any message that has been posted to the list. But, it will only find exact matches to what you input. For example, if someone else spells the surname KIME and you search for KEIM, there will be NO match. On names, you may want to try searching by given or middle names instead. Searching by location is another possible option. The results will be as good as what you input to conduct the search. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! This might be a good time to remind everyone to search the archives for emails related to your line.
