Next door is: Enoch Kime (25), Eliza (22), Malvina (1) 7- Sarah Kime married Levi Kunp [Kump] 17 May 1855 Mahoning County, Ohio 8- In the 1860 Census of Fulton Co, Ohio is: Garret H Baum (43), Ester (43), Sylvester (19), Angeline (15), Lorinda (11), Ester C (9), Curtis H (6), Catherine Jones (80), Rachel S (60). Next door is: Levi Kump (28), Sarah (30), Reuben (4), Ada (2), Oliver (4/12s) Based on the above: a- As Ester Kime is age 60 in 1850, she is probably too old to be the mother of Catherine (born when Ester was ~49), and George W (born when Ester was ~54). Ester could be the mother of Sarah (born when Ester was ~42). b- Henry Kime, born 1810-1820, doesn't appear in the 1850 Census in Mahoning. This is probably the Henry Kime who died c1843 in Trumbull county, Ohio. c- Henry Kime is of the right age to be a son of Samuel & Ester Kime. If so, it would be reasonable to assume that, if he and his wife died before 1850, his children might be raised by his parents. d- Catherine, in the household of Ester Kime in 1850, is age 11. She should be in the 1840 Census - but she doesn't appear to be in the household of Samuel Kime, Henry Kime, or Garrett Baum. Is her 1850 Census age incorrect or did the 1840 Census taker mis-record her age? Eg., should the female age 5-10 in the household of Henry Kime actually be age 0-5? e- Given that Henry Kime married in 1838, it is unlikely that he is the father of Sarah, born 1832. I *think* the correct family outline is something like this: 1. Samuel Kime b.1790 d.1843 Trumbull County, Ohio ..+Esther/Ester Beaver b.c1790 Pennsylvania d.after1850 ...2. Henry Kime b.c1815 d.1843 Trumbull County, Ohio .....+Betsey Hoyles b.c1815 d.before1850 m.1838 ......3. Catherine Kime b.c1839 d.? ; living w/grandparents in 1850 Census ......3. George W Kime b.c1843 d.? ; living w/grandparents in 1850 Census ...2. Esther Kime b.1817 Pennsylvania m.1839 Trumbull county, Ohio .....+Garrett Baum b.c1817 ...2. -dau- Kime b.1820-1825 (= female aged 15-20 in 1840 Census) ...2. Enoch Kime b.c1824 .....+Eliza ? b.c1827 ...2. -dau- Kime b.1830-1835 (= female aged 5-10 in 1840 Census) ...2. Sarah Kime b.1832 .....+Levi Kump Sorry for the extra long post! --- Karen Arp karp@pobox.com
In reference to the Ohio Death Certificates Lori has been posting, several of these listed parents born in West Virginia. If you happen to be researching any of these lines, West Virginia has a site to search for births, marriages, and deaths. Hi Missie, Thanks for the kind words, I have enjoyed posting the information and I have also enjoyed all the other people that have added to the post. It has been Great! I have about 25 more to post, but as far as I know no more from Ohio. I had posted one from Ohio today when Cindy asked if I would look for Emma Congrove, it turns out they had her fathers name transcribed as Kimca, I think it was. If someone comes up with something they want me to look for and I do find it, I will post it. I guess the transcribers are a lot like the census takers, if they can't figure it out they put down what they think it might be;~) When I read about the podcast you saw my heart broke! I have binders for all the families I am working on and I have printed a letter for each binder saying that it is to be given to the Genealogical Society of the area the family is from. I have put the name of the society , their address, phone number and e-mail address on the letter. I have told my husband and our daughter that this is my wish and they both agree to honor it. I also have the names of some family members that they are to contact first to see if they want the information. I just can't bare the thought that all the work that is put into the research, mine or anyone else's, could be trashed. That is just sad that the family would BURN all that great information, they are lucky if the researcher doesn't come back and haunt their butt's. Missie's note is a reminder to all of us... we need to think about what will become of our research once we're gone. Some folks are adding clauses to their wills... instructions to heirs for what to do with various genealogical materials in possession of the deceased. This article should inspire you to take steps to preserve your work. http://www.rootdig.com/adn/cleaningmothershouse.html Missie <petdustbunnies@gmail.com> wrote: I was watching a genealogy podcast (roots television) --they told a story of a genealogist who had died leaving behind 40 YEARS of research...the family didn't care about it, didn't want to be bothered with it and BURNED all of her research, family bible, photos! my brother Henry, g. g. son of Jonas Keim from Peoria, Ill. died in November. I believe, anyway he was adopted 2 times. When his wife divorced him, she threw all his only pictures of his family on the curb and someone came along and took them-the dumpster guys. He never was able to regain any of the pictures so we lost the pictures for a lifetime as he didn't find us until 1991 and he was born 1946. there were 6 of us but 4 of us were adopted into other families. Lori checked on a death cert for Emma as it seemed she MUST have died in Ohio, and SURE ENOUGH, she did! Her father's surname was evidently scribbled on the death certificate. EMMA'S ANCESTRY: Emeline Kimes, born 11 March 1863 in WV; died 29 October 1932 in Akron, Summit Co, OH. She was the daughter of George Washington Kimes and Margaret Emily Williamson. Hi Everyone, I think I have posted all the Keim, Kime, Kimes, Kyme, ect. that I have found in the Ohio death certificates. If I missed a spelling in what I have posted let me know and I will check for it. The other death information that I can get from this site are as follows: Georgia 1914 - 1927 Ontario 1869 - 1947 Utah 1904 - 1956 Texas 1964 - 1998 I went and checked the listing for the various spellings of Keim and I found that there were no matches or near matches for Texas. For Georgia there were two listings one with the spelling Keem and the other with the spelling Kaim. I did find one with the mothers last name of Kimes, she was a Negro, I will post that but there was no father listed on the information. I found eleven each for Ontario and Utah. I will also post them, but it will be a few days before I start on that. When I checked these other states I checked for both Father's and Mother's last names. Also, the site where I am getting these is the new LDS bata site, I think I mentioned that before, and it is open to anyone that wants to use it. You have to sign up and wait for a confirmation e-mail from them but then you can use it all you want and it is free. They plan to put all the records they have on the site by the time it is all said and done. If any one wants the link to sign up let me know and I will send it to you. It has been posted on some of the list I am on and it seems that AOL has a problem with it, but most of the people with AOL that have the Firefox browser were able to sign up and use the site using the Firefox browser and closing their AOL browser. I, myself, have MSN and Firefox and I can get to the site with either one with no problem. Thanks for letting me post all the information I have over run your inbox with! I hope it has helped some of you and the best part is that it might help someone down the road with the information in the archives. Lori
