    3. Hello Myron, I'm Don McGlothlen, McGlothlen Family Historian.  One of my ancestors married Reverend Johathan Anthony Keeney and I have worked with Keeney researchers throughout the past 23 years. I agree with your Keeney Comments.  As you are probably aware, Greenbrier County is not at all definitive when referring generally to an approximate time period, such as one or two lifetime spans.  However, a lot is known (though not enough) from family histories and some official records when you drop down to John Jonathan Keeney, Sr.   I communicated with Roscoe several times and found that his primary source information - at least that he reflected on to me - was most often from Keeney descendants, possibly related Keeney familes and for official records, mostly census data that had no specific, written tie to a specific Keeney person.   I have found nothing that would indicate a Massachusetts linkage.  However, I am interested in anything that ties the Keeney or similar surname to specific Ships (or should I say boats) in the 1700's. Have you found that type of information? In fact, none that I have found has identified a source or media   that establishes such a relationship, nor that the David Keeney of   Massachusetts is the same David Keeney in Greenbrier. This relationship is   stated as a fact with no genealogical support. My records indicate that   David Keeney (3 DEC 1714/15-aft. 1764) was the father of John Jonathan   Keeney (25 Dec 1750-1 Jan 1821). However, I, too, have not found verifiable   sources that link that David Keeney to any predecessor or earlier location.   As far as I know, the late Roscoe Keeney who thoroughly researched the VA-WV   Keeneys, was also unable to establish a family root earlier than the David   Keeney from Greenbrier. I would welcome any such linkages supported with   reputable, reliable sources. If you know of such, please let me know.   Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this   list.
