Our elusive KÖHLER listed himself as being from Saxony-Coburg and also as having been born in Metz. There are a number of Metz/Metze towns in the Germanic areas of Europe, but to date I have had little luck finding one in what was (1837-1852) Saxony-Coburg in pre-Germany. I have been advised that possibly this area is now part of Bavaria. Any clues?
