This URL takes you to the SURNAME WEB sight. I just happened on it by accident :-) http://www.surnameweb.org/registry/k/a/y/kaylor.htm It has our Mailing List, but has me as host for KOEHLER, which I sent a message to tell them different. A good sight to search for other surnames, too. Just link to their home page after viewing the Kaylor site. Mary Ann Kaylor/Kaler List Owner Mary Ann Kaylor makaylor@npwt.net
DAVID CAYLOR: Enlisted 13 Aug 1862 at Mt. Hope WI served as a private in Company I of the 20th Regiment of Wisconsin Infantry Volunteers. By 28 Oct 1862 David Caylor was dead from Typhoid Fever. Buried Springfield MO sect 15 grave 44. This is my gggrandfather. He would of been born around 1835. Died at 27 years old leaving behind a young wife, Catherine Rice d/o Tobias Riley Rice, and two young children, Susie Catherine Caylor and John Henry Caylor. Susie was born about 1858 and John Henry about 1860. Catherine Rice Caylor remarried to Jonathon Stout and had 7 more children. I have no idea where David Caylor was born or who his parents or sibbling were. It is believed that David Caylor was born in PA. What date he arrived in Wisconsin is not known. His father is thought to be Henry Caylor and he married a lady named Rebecca. Does anyone have any information on this family? Catherine Leinbach

Good question Jean, so I am posting to lists. The postings remain. They are achived after a period of time by Rootsweb, after a considerable amount are inputted. But they can be searched by the Rootsweb search engines. They stay in other words. This is the Main Kaylor Resource page where one can access the various search engines. http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/k/a/KAYLOR/ If anyone has a Kaylor or variant Web page, it can be included as a link, also. Just a reminder that all the Kaylor, Kaler, Koehler, Kohler, Kahler, etc.. researchers can post messages on the following boards. Be sure to put Queries on the Query Board, Obits on the Obituarie Board, etc. etc... Otherwise I will have to move them to the appropriate board. Even if your surname isn't the variant Kaylor, all variants will be reading these. Doesn't hurt to post anywhere there is opportunity to do so. You might also post these to the Mailing Lists at the same time. I am attempting to locate any information on "Lewis Jacob Kaylor" who was born in Pipe Co. Ill./Ind. He married Miranda Catherine Cheesemen/Chesseman some time around 1854 and they had five children: Alice; Charles; George; Ruby Marrie; and Clara. Miranda had two sons from two previous marriages: Ceph and ??? Have not been able to find anything on Lewis Jacob and I thought there might be since he was blind at his death and lived with his youngest daughter, Clara in Kansas City, Kansas. The family spent most of Ruby's (my grandmother's) life in Kansas. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreicated. Kyle, I have just tried to help someone with John Kaylor and Catherine Haines. These are not my line, I am the List Owner for Kaylor and Kaler Mailing Lists, so just try to connect people, if at all possible. Here is what I have which contradicts what you have. Remember I did not do this research myself, only have it in my files of 25 years research on the Kaylor surname. Which one is correct, I do not know. Maybe there were two John Kaylor's who married Catherine Haines? JOHN KAYLOR b 1772 vA d 1843 Ross Co. OH m 1804 VA CATHERINE HAINES b 12 Jul 1789 3 7 May 1867 Pike Co.
