For 25 yrs I have hunted for the parents of Mary Ellen KAYLOR,KALOR or what ever. She was born March of 1824 in Virginia. Census of 1880 she says father born VA , mother PA. On May 14, 1844 in Delaware Co., Ohio she married Elijah Roads, but the name on the marriage was Taylor, not Kaylor. So for 15 years I looked for Taylors before getting her childrens death certificates and seeing the name was Kaylor or several spelling there of. . Mary Ellen died 1899 in Kansas and that was before they started keeping death records here. On the 1850 census Elijah and Mary Ellen were in Clermont Co., Ohio, 1860 McLean Co., IL and 1870 they moved over to Ford Co., IL. Then by 1880 they were in Shawnee Co., KS where Elijah died 1896 and she in 1899. Elijah got a pension from Civil War and so did Mary Ellen after he died. On that it said she had not been married before or after her marriage to Elijah Roads. So, Please help me if you can.
