HALE will be home to-day from Platte City. Supt. D. B. HIATT visited the Armstrong schools on Friday. One plain drunk was run through the police court yesterday morning. B. M. BRAKE, esq., of Kansas City, Kas, is a candidate for police judge. The Democrats of Kansas City, Kas., held their primaries last evening. Miss Lucy CHRISTY, of Olathe, is visiting friends in Wyandott. Quarterly meeting begins to-day at the Fifth Street Methodist church. There will be services to-day at St. Paul's church at the usual hour. Rev. D. P. MITCHELL, of Topeka, gave the Greenbackers a talk yesterday. Mr. Ed. Taylor, of Armstrong, is to plant 200 acres of potatoes this spring. A young steamboat is "wooding" it between Kansas City and Edwardsville. The citizens of the Second ward propose to open Walnut street whether or no. Mr. J. C. BODDINGTON, of Armstrong, has invested in a brand new horse and buggy. Judson WILLIAMS, of Ottawa, was in the city yesterday. He left last night for Indiana. Mrs. T. LUNNING, who has been visiting the family of Geo. S. FRANK returned to Colorado last evening. A people's meeting will be held on Thursday evening at Dunning's hall to nominate a city ticket. Mr. J. F. TIMMONS, of Edwardsville, is erecting several tenement houses on his hillside farm. E. F. POWELL, telegraph operator at Edwardsville, has accepted a position of operator on the U. P. at Linwood. Superintendent HIATT came down from Edwardsville yesterday and reports the roads to be in a flourishing condition. George ROBINSON and Doc DALTON came down from Brookfield, Friday evening, where they had been attending the firemen's ball. The Rev. L. BARTLETT will preach at the Congregational church to-morrow morning at the usual hour. Sunday school in the afternoon. Miss Annie SHARP, daughter of Judge I. B. SHARP, celebrated her 20th birthday last evening. A large number of her young friends were present. L. H. WOOD is expected home soon from Florida, where he is recreating.
