    3. "The Kansas City Journal" (Missouri) Tuesday, May 19, 1903 HAD A HARD TIME MARRYING. Thomas D. WYATT and Miss Dora I. HARRIS, of Lee's Summit, Mo., experienced a difficult proposition yesterday in getting married. The bride was only 16 years of age, and the officials in Kansas City, Mo., refused to issue the license because her parents had not given their consent in person to the wedding. The couple started out early in the morning and finally about the middle of the afternoon, arrived in Kansas City, Kas. The laws in that state are not so rigid in regard to minors marrying, and Judge FREEMAN issued the license and performed the ceremony. Friends of both the bride and groom were present and stated that it was no runaway match. ================================================= (I have no connection with these people but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) =================================================
