    3. "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Wednesday, January 1, 1913 TRAIN KILLS FOUR KANSANS. Belleville, Kas., Dec. 31.-- Part of a little girl's head with a bit of blue baby ribbon tied to the hair was found by the engineer of Rock Island passenger train No. 5 when he oiled the engine here tonight. Investiga- tion developed the fact that the engine had struck a buggy at a grade crossing two miles north of here at 6:30 o'clock tonight killing Wilson JAMES, his wife and two children. The mother, a 2-month-old baby and a 3-year-old girl were killed instantly. The father was breathing when picked up, but died a short time afterward. Engineer LAIRD said he did not know when the engine struck the buggy. Part of the buggy top was wedged to the pilot when the train reached here. At the arrival of the train here, the headlight was not burning. Two boys, 8 and 13 years old, are the only surviving members of the JAMES family. ================================================= (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) =================================================
