BIRD, BOWER, GARDNER, PEABODY "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Monday, January 1, 1912 DEATHS IN KANSAS CITY. John J. O. BOWER, well known in Republican politics in Kansas City, died at his home, 1712 the Paseo, at 12:45 o'clock yesterday morning. He had been ill a week with muscular rheumatism. He was 39 years old. Mr. BOWER was born in this city. In 1895, he accompanied Oscar GARDNER, a lightweight pugilist, known as the "Omaha Kid," as his trainer, on a trip to New York. From 1904 until 1908, Mr. BOWER was in the county surveyor's office, previous to which he was in the industrial department of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Mumau BOWER; his father, M. B. BOWER of this city; a half brother, W. G. BIRD, Kansas City, Kas., and one sister, Mrs. Robert M. PEABODY of this city. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
