"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Wednesday, May 6, 1903 WORE HIS WIFE'S CLOTHES. Joplin, MO., May 5.--(Special.) For several evenings, Mrs. George GROFFIELD, of this city, had been accosted by two men on her way home. She reported the matter to her husband who, enraged by the insults, attired himself this evening in his wife's clothes and strolled down the avenue. Two men answering the description given by his wife were standing at their usual corner. One of them boldly approached and said: "Come on, little girl. You need not be so bashful." Then GROFFIELD drew from beneath his jacket a heavy club and struck the fellow a blow that stunned him. A fierce fight followed, but Mr. GROFFIELD soon put the two men to flight. ================================================= (I have no connection with this person but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) =================================================
