    3. "The Kansas City Post" (Missouri) Tuesday, September 19, 1916 BOY, 9, KILLED BY FAIRMOUNT CAR. Becoming confused as he was walking down the eastbound track at Overton avenue, on the Fairmount park line on his way to school this morning, Robert HARRINGTON, 9 years old, ran in front of a westbound car and was killed. The boy was the son of J. I. HARRINGTON, carpenter, 715 Maple avenue, Mt. Washington. Walter KINGERY, one of the oldest motormen on the Kansas City Railways company's lines, was running the car. He was slowing down to pick up a woman at Overton station when the boy dodged in front of the car. The car was almost stopped when it struck the lad as he leaped to clear the last rail. KINGERY was unnerved and was unable to continue his work. The car was sidetracked and a motorman sent from the car barn at Ninth and Brighton to bring it in. The body of the boy was sent to the Blackman undertaking rooms at Sheffield. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.)
