    3. GEORGE, STEWART "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Wednesday, October 4, 1911 MOTHER FOUND AND LOST AGAIN After leaving her three small children with only a crust of bread in a basement at 2133 Summit Street, Mrs. Josie STEWART appeared late yesterday afternoon at the Helping Hand Institute to get them back. Her requests was refused, but she finally obtained permission to return to the basement to get a few belongings. Taking her baby, Emmett, 9 months old, she left promising to be back by 7 o'clock. Late last night she had not returned and her other two children, Aubrey, 7 years old, and Edith, 4 years old, are still at the Helping Hand. Mrs. STEWART explained her absence from home by saying that she had been to Armourdale to see a sister-in-law about moving. Neighbors told the police the children had been abandoned two days without food. Mrs. STEWART said her health had been bad and that it was her intention to send the children to her father, I. G.
