Bowdon, O'Brien, Guffin, Ferree, Phelps, Williamson, Jandus & Jones John O'Brien has been so helpful with his efforts to search for obits and other info relating to our Kansas City relatives, that it dawned on me I have several obits gathered earlier that I could post & share. Maybe they will help, maybe not. 1. BOWDON, Mrs. Mary J.., at 6:20 o'clock this morning at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Ross Guffin, 3220 Chestnut. Funeral services at 9:00 a.m., Monday, to which friends are invited. Interment private. Mrs. Bowdon was the widow of the late William G. Bowdon, a member of the Alabama judiciary. She came to Kansas City in 1866. Many friends will attest to her kindness and gentleness of character. Four daughters survive. They are Mrs. Ross Guffin, Mrs. C. M. Ferree, Mrs. Jennie B. O'Brien, and Mrs. E. H. Phelps. Separate notice immediately below: BOWDON, Mrs. Mary J., 82 years old, of 3220 Chestnut St. died Saturday of old age. Funeral will be held this morning at 9 o'clock from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ross Guffin, 3220 Chestnut St. Burial will be in the cemetery in Independence, Mo. Kansas City Times, Monday August 1, 1904 Son-in-law & daughter of M.J. Bowdon: 2. O'BRIEN, Thomas M. November 30 - 2920 Garfield avenue, sarcoma aged 68 years. (Deaths reported to the Board of Health December 1 - Kansas City Times, Dec. 1892 (no day on the newspaper.) Died - O'BRIEN, Thomas M. at his residence, 2920 Garfield avenue in this city at 7:30 p.m. November 30 1892. Funeral services at his late residence at 10 o'clock a.m. tomorrow December 2, 1892. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery. Kansas City Star, December 1, 1892 Died - O'BRIEN - at Kansas City, Mo., November 30, 1892, Judge Thomas M. O'Brien, of cancer of the tongue, aged 64 years. Deceased was the father of Miss Kate O'Brien of Leadville, Colo., Mr. Branch O'Brien of New York, Mrs. C. S. Williamson of Salt Lake, Mrs. William Jandus of Cleveland, and Mrs. L. U. Jones of Denver. ** Rocky Mountain News (The Daily News), Denver, December 6, 1892 ** This is a list of his children by his first marriage only. 3. O'BRIEN, Mrs. Jennie B., 2706 Askew avenue, passed away Wednesday morning the 19th. Funeral services Friday, April 21 at residence, 2:30 p.m. Kansas City Star, April 20, 1922 John posted the obit for Major Ross Guffin (another son-in-law) earlier this year, and the one for his wife Lucy Bowdon Guffin should be available soon.
