"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Tuesday, September 26, 1899 BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN KILLED. Fort Scott, Kan., Sept. 25. -- John SCHLEGEL, a prominent farmer living near this city, who left in a wagon for Allunnee, I. T., is missing. His relatives here fear that he has been killed by robbers, and that the unknown man whose body was found buried beneath six inches of dirt in a corn field near Dewey last week is he. The corpse was found on the route which SCHLEGEL expected to take. ================================================= (I have no connection with this person but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) =================================================
