"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Monday, February 8, 1904 ILL A WEEK WITH NO MEDICINE. John RUSSEL, a laborer, staggered into police headquarters yesterday afternoon and dropped into a chair in front of the captain's desk. He had been sick of pneumonia for a week and was so nearly exhausted that he could hardly stand. He said he had been at a lodging house near Third and Walnut streets for a week without medical attention and had risen from his sick bed to go in search of a physician. He is 21 years old and came here from the Soldiers' home at Leavenworth. Dr. GINSBERG, assistant police surgeon, examined him and sent a hurry order for an ambulance to carry him to the city hospital. The surgeon said the man was in a critical condition, with discouraging prospects for his getting well. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ======================================================
