    3. ANDERSON, BECK, BERRY, BRADLEY, CONE, CRAIN, FIELD, HENRY, JONES, LUCAS, LYNN, POPPERT, RILEY, SLOVER, TAYLOR, TOOLEY, VINSON, WHITE "The Kansas City Star" (Missouri) Wednesday, October 19, 1892 A DAY OF DIVORCES. Many Tales of Woe Told in Court This Forenoon. When Judge SLOVER opened court this morning, his court room was well filled with women, and the feminine dress and millinery were the most conspicuous objects in the hall. Some of them bore infants in their arms. Some of them had dire tales of desertion to tell, others of drunkenness and violent tempers on the part of their spouses. The roomful of women probably contained the whole category of grounds for divorce. There were no less than twenty divorce cases on today's docket, some of which were continued to a later day in the term. Judge SLOVER pressed the button, the wheels went round and decree after decree fell from the hopper. Edward S. CONE was divorced from Ida CONE, whom, in his petition, filed last August, he charged with infidelity. Desertion and abuse were the grounds upon which Emma TAYLOR was given legal separation from James W. TAYLOR. Christina JONES had her bonds of matrimony with Albert JONES severed on the ground of desertion. Charles E. LYNN was the recipient of a decree of separation from Florence LYNN. In his petition, filed last August, he alleged that in May, 1887, while he was away on business, his wife sold out their $700 worth of furniture for $100 and eloped to New Orleans with a man named Harry BERRY. LYNN was given the custody of two infant children. Judge SLOVER listened to Frank H. ANDERSON's tale of desertion and gave her a decree from James M. ANDERSON. {note: names were Frank and James} E. L. LUCAS was given a decree from Flora B. LUCAS on the grounds of desertion. Anna BECK was given a decree from Chris BECK, whom she married in April last and lived with him until the 3d of August. Her matrimonial experience was brief but stormy. Cornelia F. TOOLEY was granted a decree from John C. TOOLEY, whom she charged with being a drunkard and general ne'er-do-well. She also charged him with infidelity. In Judge FIELD's division the suit for divorce of Emma BRADLEY against Charles BRADLEY was dismissed this morning by the plaintiff. Thad. S. RILEY was given a decree from Teresa RILEY, whom he charged with desertion. Lulu CRAIN was given a decree of separation from Bruce CRAIN. In her petition filed last July she charged her husband with abusing her and of neglecting her for the society of other women. Lena A. POPPERT was granted legal separation from George POPPERT, who sued her for divorce last September, charging infidelity. In Mrs. POPPERT's cross bill she denied this and made counter charges. POPPERT did not contest the suit and on his wife's cross bill being sustained by the proof, Judge SLOVER granted her a decree. Her maiden name, Lena WHITE, was restored to her. It appears that the VINSON divorce suit, which occupied two days in Judge HENRY's court last week and in which the parties were sent away without a decree, is not yet ended. VINSON, whose cross bill was dismissed, this morning made a motion for a new trial before Judge HENRY. It is not probable that a rehearing will be granted. ================================================= (I have no connection with these people but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) =================================================
