    2. John O'Brien
    3. "The Kansas City Star" (Missouri) Monday, October 18, 1897 Charles STEWART of 1213 Forest avenue, an old citizen and real estate dealer, died at his home last night. Twenty years ago he came to Kansas City from St. Joseph and engaged in the wholesale tea business with W. A. WILSON, but remained with him only a short time and turned his attention to dealing in grain, and finally to the real estate business, in which he made and lost a fortune during the boom. He was once supposed to be worth $100,000. Mr. STEWART also had a war record. He served under General Odin GUITAR, now living in Columbia, Mo., and was promoted to be captain of the commissary department. Later he was made major for gallantry in battle. He was 57 years old when he died and left two children. The funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon and were attended by Farragut-Thomas G.A.R. post, to which Mr. STEWARD belonged. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.)
