I received an interesting note from the great-great niece of C.A. Ransom that I wanted to share. ==================================================== "The Kansas City Journal" (Missouri) Monday, April 24, 1899 OTHER DEATHS AND FUNERALS. Mrs. Belle M. RANSOM, aged 41 years, died of pneumonia yesterday at her home, 1418½ Woodland avenue. Her husband, C. A. RANSOM, who is a conductor on the Rock Island railroad, is at the point of death with pneumonia, and it was while nursing him that his wife was taken with pneumonia. The funeral will be held from Wagner's undertaking rooms at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning and the body will be placed in a receiving vault at Elmwood cemetery. =================================================== Arabella (Belle) McKinley Ransom was my great-grandfather's, (George H. Ransom) brother's wife. Despite what the obit says about C.A. being near death with pneumonia, he lived until 1921. George H. and Charles A. were born in Jefferson County, New York, the sons of Giles P. and Cynthia Harlow Ransom. From New York, the family moved to Hardin County, Iowa, and then to Missouri Valley, Harrison County, Iowa.Charles and Arabella were married in Missouri Valley, Iowa, 17 May 1875. They moved to Bancroft, Nebraska, along with George H. Ransom and his wife, Mattie Roach Ransom, and their father Giles P. Ransom in 1880.
