"The Kansas City Journal" (Missouri) Friday, November 15, 1901 Gilson B. THOMAS, aged 70, died yesterday of senile debility at the home of his son, Willoughby THOMAS, 920 Garfield avenue. He was the father of G. B. THOMAS, Jr., postmaster at Red Mountain, Col., and Willoughby THOMAS, of this city, who has for many years been with the Emery, Bird, Thayer Dry Goods Company, and uncle of Secretary Charles R. THOMAS, of the National Hereford Breeders' Association. Mr. THOMAS' father was "Uncle Buck" THOMAS, of Jackson county, who was a soldier in both the Revolution and the war of 1812. Gilson B. THOMAS was the man sent by Colonel William GILPIN from Independence with ammunition for John C. FREMONT's Rocky Mountain expedition. He had lived in Colorado for the past twenty-five years, but came back recently when his health broke down, for he wanted to die in Missouri. The funeral will be held at the residence of Willoughby THOMAS at 9 o'clock this forenoon and the interment will be at Independence. ====================================================== ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob & Julie Clark" <clarks01@sprintmail.com> To: "John O'Brien" <JohnOBrien@kc.rr.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 10, 2003 9:08 PM Subject: Re: Gilson Thomas "The Kansas City Journal" (Missouri) Saturday, November 16, 1901 DEATHS.
