    3. "The Kansas City Journal" (Missouri) Saturday, April 2, 1898 A FOOTBALL PLAYER NAMED. Dr. Lewis B. PIERCE has been appointed by Police Surgeon LONGAN as his assistant to succeed DR. George NORBERG, who resigned to accept a position as second assistant house surgeon at the Missouri Pacific hospital, under Dr. Willis P. KING. Dr. PIERCE graduated this spring from the University Medical college. He has had considerable experience in practical surgery as assistant surgeon at the Missouri Pacific hospital and as emergency assistant in police work. He has lived in Kansas City fifteen years, making his home with his father, L. A. PIERCE, at 1228 Tracy avenue. While in college he gained quite a reputation as the fullback of the U.M.C. football team, one of the strongest teams in the West.
