"The Kansas City Star" (Missouri) Sunday, August 20, 1899 A YOUTHFUL THIEF TAKER. Two boys walked up the steps of the police station late yesterday afternoon. Paul KUEHNEMAN, 15 years old, 2117 Campbell street, had taken the other boy, aged 12 years, from Jones Bros.' dry goods store, where a floor walker had arrested him for shoplifting. The boy was crying bitterly when he entered the station with Paul. He made desperate efforts to release himself, but Paul stuck to his arm like a leech and dragged him along. It was hard work, though, and he was pretty well exhausted when he got to the station. "He told me he was going to get his gang to whip me and rescue him if I didn't let him go," said Paul. The boy was locked in a cell room. Paul KUEHNEMAN works in the advertising department of Jones Bros. ====================================================== added info: Paul married and became a druggist. He died in Kansas City in 1949 at the age of 65 and is buried at Mt Washington Cemetery. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ======================================================
