Thank you, John, for all your seemingly endless giving to so many others. We are in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As a Nevada, Vernon Co., Missouri native, father was a Marshall, Saline Co. native, with other family members in the Saline Co. environs. Our granduncle Henry Hurt POTTER (13 Jan 1874 Marshall, Saline, MO - 15 Jul 1955 Kansas City, Jackson, MO) was married to Josephine Hazel ???. They lived at 3554 Agnes Ave. in KC. His obituary stated his occupation as "real estate broker." Family stories also had him in the group surrounding Tom Pendergast, even though no written record can be located confirming that "social" relationship. Oral history suggested that they were common-law married. We have never been able to corroborate this information even though his obituary had her as his spouse. We are seeking to fill in the blank as to Josephine ("Jo") Hazel's surname...any help? Also, we are attempting to find more information on family members: 1) Silas Perry and Lusetta Margaret (SMITH) ALBERT reportedly married 8 Oct 1888 in KC. 2) George and Burns (POTTER) CLINE...she (Burns) supposedly born ca. 1926 in KC. 3) Henry S. MILLS, originally from Saline Co., MO, supposedly (co)formed a bank in KC mid-1800s. Lines being researched in Kansas City: ALBERT, BUCKNER, HALL, HURT, JAMES, KESSINGER, LESTER, LYNESS, MILLS, POTTER, SMITH, STRAWDERMAN Thank you, again. As we begin a new year, I thought it would be interesting to know a little something about us members, and maybe even help each other, so I'm requesting that you respond to this note with the following: Your location - city and state .......... or just state How you are connected to Kansas City, MO or Kansas City, KS What you hope to gain by being a member of the KC Mailing List Your family name - first, first & last, or none. =================================================== Perhaps someone on the List will be able to provide you with information. This will be more probably if you include dates and names in your response. For example, saying "my grandfather lived in KC" will not get much of a response but saying "my grandfather, John O'Brien, lived in Kansas City in the 1920s" might produce a result. It's up to you how specific you want to be. There is, of course, no requirement that you participate. However, simply responding: "I live in California and lived in Kansas City, KS in the 1950s" would be acceptable. Thank you for your consideration.
