I feel so young. I don't remember any of this Roy. Hank Bauer was the manager of the A's when I first listened to the games on radio. In the early 1960's we were given (at school) free tickets to a ball game and my Mom wouldn't let me go because she didn't drive. A neighbor took my brother, but since I was a girl she wouldn't let me ride with them. I was about 13 and it was years before I got to go to a game. Where did the Monarchs play? How many can recall the early to mid 1940"s when the Kansas City Blues were a Triple A team? When they won the AAA championship with Hank Bauer, Cliff Mapes, Harry Craft, and many other later stars in the majors? When Carl DeRose pitched his last ball game knowing he had to have shoulder surgery that would end his caree? A perfect no run, no hit, no error game. The game was out of town, broadcast play by play by ticker tape. I know, I was there.
