    3. Hello! My name is Teresa Pearce Dugan. I now live in Columbus, Ohio, but lived as a child in Kansas City, Mo area, Freeman/Harrisonville, Mo area and in the Shawnee Mission Kansas area. As an adult, I lived in Kansas City, Mo until about 25 years ago. My great, great grandmother, Sophia Henke Pearce moved to Kansas City, Missouri sometime between 1900 and 1910, from Madison County, Illinois. She had divorced her husband, Joseph Pleasant Pearce. They had two children, Grace Pearce, who married Courtlandt Hilsdon and my great grandfather Clarence Stanley Pearce, who married Mary Nettie Cooper. My great grandfather Clarence was a hatter and owned a shop on East 9th St. It has been said that Sophia moved here because she had cousins who lived in KC, but I have never been able to locate them. My great grandmother Mary Nettie Cooper was born in Marys Home, Missouri. She moved to Kansas City, Kansas when she was 11 yrs old to keep house for her father, Lilburn Cooper. I have not been able to find out much about Lilburn, except that one of his parents, most likely his mother, was Cherokee Indian. He was most likely born in Pulaski County, Missouri. Mary Nettie's mother had passed away several years before hand and she had been living her her maternal grandparents, Fred and Katie Groose. Mary Nettie and Clarence Stanley had six children, one of which was my grandfather, Courtlandt Pleasant Pearce. He married Henrietta Hardman. She was born in Kansas City, the youngest of three children. She had two brothers, James Ross and Lawrence Hardman. Henrietta's father was Henry Hardman. He owned a moving company until the Depression. He married Cynthia Cecil Loop, who was from Green City, Missouri. She had many brothers and sisters, as did my great grandfather Hardman who lived at different times in Kansas City. He was born in Parsons, Kansas. My great great grandfather, James E Hardman died in Kansas City in 1906 from pleurisy. He did own and run a boarding home/hotel at one time. :My father, Courtlandt Pearce Jr was born in Kansas City, Mo. He met my mother Margaret Clarice Farmer in Kansas City. She was at a school called Weaver's School for Airline Stewardess and Ticket Agents, I believe for TWA. They later married. She passed away in Dec. 1969. I did not grow up with much family knowledge and those who could answer any questions were lost to me or had passed away. John helped me find most of the information listed. I am always interested in family history and enjoy reading all of the postings on this list. I am always looking information about the following surnames: Pearce, Henke, Loop, Hardman. I also research my brother in law's family, Sweeten, Soverns, Bickell, Porter, Fall. I am also interested in finding out about the Weaver School. My mother died when I was 10 years old and I would like to know more about her life in Kansas City while in school. Again, her name was Margaret Clarice Farmer, who was called Peggy. She was from Indianapolis, Indiana. So, now I have written a book....if for some reason I have any information that someone would like, I will be glad to share this information. Thanks again to John, for all of his help!
