Frank, My Margaret Farnsworth (husband John H., born in NY) was in Wheeling, Ohio Co, WV in 1850. Is that anywhere near Lewis Co.? And do you have a NY connection? She is probably widowed in 1850, as it is just her and children on the census but marital status wasn't given in 1850. She and John were married in Belmont Co., OH in 1836. I have no idea why she/they went to WV. Some of her children from each marriage were born in VA/WV and some in Ohio. John H. might have died anywhere between 1845 and 1880 and anywhere from VA to OH to IA (Margaret lived in Winterset and Rock Island for a while) to Wyandotte Co., KS. I can't help being curious. A son Henry C. Farnsworth died in Topeka in 1917. Vanette
Vanette, I must apologize for the delay in responding to your message. Somehow I missed it when it arrived, and just noticed it this evening. Also, I mis-typed when I said that Isaac and family left from Lewis Co., WVA (or just VA in those days). Isaac had at one time lived in Lewis County and also in Upshur County, which is just next door to Lewis Co.; but Isaac and his family left from Wheeling, Ohio Co. to go to Kansas City, MO. Isaac's father, Daniel Farnsworth, was supposedly born in New York, so yes there is a NY connection, at least to the best of my knowledge. I have an unidentified photo with a Wheeling photographer's name on the back, and I think it is a photo of a Farnsworth, possibly Isaac, but I do not know for sure. One of those instances where I wish that someone had written name and date on the reverse side of the photo!
