Mr. & Mrs. W. T. BLACKER announce the arrival at their home of a baby boy. Mr. George W. SIMMONS and wife were the guests of friends in Topeka yesterday. The Epworth League will give an ice cream social to-night in the Methodist church. Mrs. John HICKS, of Richmond, Va., who has been visiting Mrs. Tony HELFERSTAY, left last night for Jackson, Mich., to visit relatives and friends. Walter RUNYAN, of the West end, fell and broke his left arm yesterday morning. Dr. HOLLAND set his arm. Mrs. Robert JACKSON, while washing lace curtains yesterday, ran a needle that was sticking in the curtains into the fleshy part of her left hand. Drs. HOLLAND and McGLOTHER extracted the needle and dressed her injury. G. A. TAYLOR, cashier of the Argentine bank, returned yesterday from a visit with relatives in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Joe BROWN will leave this morning for Burlingame, Kas., where they will spend a few days with friends. Mr. W. H. TRAVER, general master mechanic of the Kansas City, Pittsburg & Gulf Railway Company, arrived in this city from Pittsburg, Kas., yesterday. He will remain several days. Mrs. J. R. SMILEY, who has been quite ill, is improving slowly. Miss Mary ROPER, of Topeka, is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Chauncy HARTMAN, of Ruby avenue. G. MORGAN, a small boy, was bitten in the arm yesterday morning by a large dog. MORGAN is a newsboy and was delivering his papers. His arm and shoulder were badly lacerated. The dog was killed by the police. The case of the state against Mrs. Mary McDANIELS, charged with disturbing the peace of Mrs. ALVA and family, was yesterday continued by Justice TROWBRIDGE until Friday, July 14. Thomas SWINGLE was bitten in the right hand by a large dog yesterday, when entering the door of the postoffice. The dog ran away, but was afterward killed by Officer FENWICK.
