    1. [KANSASCITY] Henry Hurt POTTER's Spouse in KC &/or Joplin?
    2. Our granduncle Henry Hurt POTTER (13 Jan 1874 Marshall, Saline, MO - 15 Jul 1955 Kansas City, Jackson, MO) was married to Josephine Hazel ???. They lived at 3554 Agnes Ave. in KC. His obituary stated his occupation as "real estate broker." Family stories also had him in the group surrounding Tom Pendergast, even though no written record can be located confirming that "social" relationship. Oral history suggested that they were common-law married. We have never been able to corroborate this information even though his obituary had her as his spouse. One writing also suggested that they may have lived with a Mr. Trossky (sp?) (Jo's cousin by marriage) President of School Board in Joplin, Jasper, MO, where he may have been a principal and/or teacher in an elementary school in downtown Joplin. We are seeking to fill in the blank as to Josephine ("Jo") Hazel's surname...any help? Thank you. 2. John O'Brien
    3. "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Monday, June 11, 1917 FIND BODIES OF TWO MEN. Two men were found dead within two blocks of each other early Sunday morning. No clew to the identity of one body could be found. Not far away, R. I. WALDEN, a hot tamale vendor, lay where he had been dragged behind a signboard at Twenty-fifth Street and Southwest Boulevard. His money was gone and his tamale wagon had been rifled. But the coroner's jury decided his death was due to heart and kidney trouble and whisky, as the robbery could have been committed after his death. He was taken to John J. Sheehan's undertaking rooms. WALDEN was a former railroad employee, and held a union card. However, about a week ago he was held up and this card taken from him. His wife in Memphis has been notified of his death. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ======================================================
