    1. [KansasCity] Joseph MACKING - Kansas City, MO - 1911
    2. John O'Brien
    3. "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Friday, June 30, 1911 SAW HIS FLOCK OF SEVEN HURT. Joseph MACKING, who lives at 1134 Missouri Avenue, and his seven children were seriously injured in a runaway yesterday afternoon at Forest and Missouri avenues. MACKING was driving an ice wagon. His seven children, four girls and three boys, the youngest 2 and the oldest 16 years old, were in the wagon with him. The horse, frightened by a flying paper, started to run away. The runaway ice wagon left a trail of overturned push carts and vehicles in its path. At Forest and Missouri avenues the father, seeing the wagon would turn over, seized the youngest child to shield it. They were both thrown head first to the pavement. MACKING suffered a dislocated shoulder, a fractured left arm and a severe scalp wound. The little girl was cut and bruised severely on the head. All the other children were bruised and shaken up. The more seriously injured members of the family were taken to the emergency hospital, where they were treated by Dr. David ROBINSON and Dr. Abraham WEINBERG. (I have no connection with this family but let me know if you found this posting helpful.)

    1. [KansasCity] Marriage Records for Kansas City Ks / Wyandotte County Ks
    2. Marriage records can be gotten at the Wyandotte County courthouse. The last I knew, they would not zerox for fear of damaging the books but they would type up the information on them for you. I don't know what the fee is for that. The Wyandotte County Historical Society has copies also but they only have those that are over 70 years old. There are some books that are pre 1900 but I don't know how complete they are.

    2. John O'Brien
    3. D. I don't know about other states but I know the KC directory is not on-line. I think the KC public library and the Mid-Continent library will do a directory lookup but I doubt that they would do more than one year. You may have better luck with libraries in smaller towns. 3. "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Friday, March 30, 1917 STOLE STORE'S STOCK AGAIN. For the second time within two weeks robbers took practically the entire stock of John SCHOOL, 1193 Southwest Boulevard, Rosedale, early yesterday morning, consisting of about $150 worth of candy, cigars and tobacco. 3. "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Friday, March 30, 1917 WIFE AND FURNITURE GONE. When Albert L. PEASE returned to his home, 809 East Eighth Street, last night, no dinner was waiting. Neither were his wife, two children or the household effects. "A man was here," said the neighbors, "and they drove away with all your furniture." PEASE asked the police to help him locate his wife and former boarder in his house. "This is the fourth time she has eloped in three years," PEASE said, "but this is the first time she has taken the children and the furniture. I'll let her go if I can get my two little girls back." 1. [KansasCity] no 1890 census
    2. John O'Brien
    3. D.: I had the thought of making a copy of the 1890 Kansas City city directory and looking up names. Although it can't replace the 1890 census, it could at least establish the fact that the person was in the area. I checked the Directory today and it's 682 pages (includes KC, MO & KS)! I could get 2 pages on a print but decided I didn't want to spend 34 bucks in dimes and also the afternoon making copies. So ....... if anyone wants me to do a 1890 lookup, send me the name and what side of the State line the person lived. I'll accumulate the requests and do them all at once.
