Roger, Weaver is my married name and I haven't been able to research much of my husband's family. Back to his grandparents (1920's), I don't know of an Elva. Wish I could help. Have you tried to get a copy of their marriage license? It might help. Sincerely Anita in MO --- "D. Marie, I didn't mean to mislead you - but I only have access to Ancestry.com's database of directories for 1889-1890. It is their attempt to substitute for the lost 1890 census. I don't have access to any years other than those, I am afraid. Sorry I couldn't help. Anita, the chances are slim but I see that your surname is Weaver. I have just found a deceased cousin, Walter E. Timms, married to an Elva Weaver in the 1920 census for Kansa City. I don't suppose that you might be connected? Roger Timms
"The Kansas City Journal" (Missouri) Wednesday, May 13, 1903 MOTHER SEEKS HER CHILD. Mrs. Gertrude ROBINSON brought habeas corpus proceedings in the circuit court yesterday to get possession of her 3-year-old child, Gertrude A. ROBINSON, who she says is now in the custody of Mrs. Frances C. WEAVER, 1227 Troost avenue. Mrs. ROBINSON alleges that two years ago her husband deserted her at Kenesha, Wis., and took their little baby with him. She says he came to Kansas City and placed the child with Mrs. WEAVER, where it has been ever since. She declares that Mrs. WEAVER refuses to give her possession of the child, and will not even permit her to see it. Mrs. WEAVER claims the child was given to her by its father. Judge TEASDALE granted a temporary writ, returnable before Judge EVANS at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Judge EVANS set the matter for hearing on June 6, and in the meantime the child will remain in the custody of Mrs. WEAVER. ================================================= (I have no connection with these people but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) =================================================

"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Wednesday, May 6, 1903 WORE HIS WIFE'S CLOTHES. Joplin, MO., May 5.--(Special.) For several evenings, Mrs. George GROFFIELD, of this city, had been accosted by two men on her way home. She reported the matter to her husband who, enraged by the insults, attired himself this evening in his wife's clothes and strolled down the avenue. Two men answering the description given by his wife were standing at their usual corner. One of them boldly approached and said: "Come on, little girl. You need not be so bashful." Then GROFFIELD drew from beneath his jacket a heavy club and struck the fellow a blow that stunned him. A fierce fight followed, but Mr. GROFFIELD soon put the two men to flight. ================================================= (I have no connection with this person but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) =================================================
