    1. [KansasCity] A. E. MURPHY - Kansas City, MO - 1903
    2. John O'Brien
    3. "The Kansas City Journal" (Missouri) Thursday, November 19, 1903 ROBBED IN MAIN STREET. At the point of a revolver, A. E. MURPHY, a painter living at 2816 Mercier street, was held up and robbed at about 10 o'clock last night while walking along Main street near Eighteenth street. MURPHY told the police at No. 3 station he was on his way home and was just approaching a dark place when two white men stepped out and demanded of him that he throw up his hands. One held a revolver in his face while the other hurriedly went through his pockets. He thinks the robbery was committed in less than ten seconds, as the man had taken his pocketbook from his inside pocket and they were gone almost before he realized what had happened. He said he had $31.85 in the pocketbook he carried in an inside coat pocket, which the robbers secured, but had $5 in his trousers' pocket which the highwaymen did not take time to find. MURPHY gave a description of the men who robbed him and believes he could identify them. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this person but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) ======================================================
