Hi Marilyn and List, You asked about specific rules regarding this list and I have to say I only have a couple. First of all, NO FLAMING! For those not familiar with this term it means If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all." An old axiom, but still very true. There is nothing worse than being on a list and reading one lister insulting another. If someone does resort to that, they will be removed from the list. That's it-gone. The second is to try your best to contribute as well as receive. We truly have a wonder in John O'Brien. He has been tireless in his contributions to the list, others on this list and to me personally. He single-handly found the whole western side of my family and I will be forever greatful. I do realize that circustances and distance make this difficult for many, but if you do have resouces, please share them. Communication on list and off is perfectly OK. If you have a cause for complaint, just do your best to be kind and tactful in your posting. So folks, there you have it, nothing too complicated. Just have fun. Maureen, Listmom

Five stories of ill-mated couples and of love that failed were heard yesterday afternoon by Judge Frank D. HUTCHINGS in the Second division of the district court. In each case he agreed with the plaintiff and granted divorce. When Harrison BLUNDELL enlisted in the volunteer army to fight the Spaniards in the Philippines in 1898, he left a new wife, Frances BLUNDELL, behind. But, unlike the soldiers in the story books, he seemed to forget the "girl he left behind him." She told Judge HUTCHINGS that he sent her only $50 of his pay all the time he was at war, and when peace came he failed to come back to her. Hello all. Ancestry phoned me in early Fall offering me what I had earlier for $149.00 per year. I paid $200.00 prior for the same thing. I couldn't accept it as was not feeling well enough to spend much time online. I am new to the list but have to agree that John is a special friend indeed. I first met him on another list and he has been so helpful to me. I am researching the following Surnames: Keller, James, Russell, Stokes, Blythes, Estes. Hoping to be more active in the future. Dear List, I am looking for a source for vital records and obituaries. Is their a genealogy society or public library that has a collection of obits or vital record information.
