    3. Below is a posting I made back in June and a great-granddaughter's response, which I thought you would "enjoy": ======================================================= "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Friday, September 19, 1913 MAN THREW ACID AT HER. Miss Virginia GAUEN, who lives at the Essex Hotel, told the police last night that a man threw acid on her in an attempt to disfigure her. She was standing at Twelfth and Locust streets at 10 o'clock last night when, she says, the man appeared before her suddenly and threw the acid at her face. She jumped back and it struck her dress, burning and ruining it. ======================================================= Yes, that would be my great grandmother. She was a real piece of work. The way my grandma talked the wicked witch of the west had nothing on her. The thing was she was extremely pretty, a model for Sax Fifth Avenue. She just wasn't very pretty on the inside from what I understand. She probably did something to deserve the acid thing. =====

    3. Vanette, I must apologize for the delay in responding to your message. Somehow I missed it when it arrived, and just noticed it this evening. Also, I mis-typed when I said that Isaac and family left from Lewis Co., WVA (or just VA in those days). Isaac had at one time lived in Lewis County and also in Upshur County, which is just next door to Lewis Co.; but Isaac and his family left from Wheeling, Ohio Co. to go to Kansas City, MO. Isaac's father, Daniel Farnsworth, was supposedly born in New York, so yes there is a NY connection, at least to the best of my knowledge. I have an unidentified photo with a Wheeling photographer's name on the back, and I think it is a photo of a Farnsworth, possibly Isaac, but I do not know for sure. One of those instances where I wish that someone had written name and date on the reverse side of the photo! 3. Sorry, Jimmye. The only two Sarahs I know about are Sarah Jane UNDERWOOD who married Luther HARDIN in Black Hawk Township, Jefferson Co., Iowa Sarah "Sallie" WATSON who married John UNDERWOOD in Chatham Co., North Carolina in the first decade of the 1800s Long shot for future searching: I know there is a Baldwin UNDERWOOD line (unrelated to me) down in the Jasper/Newton Co., Missouri, area. Perhaps they are a relation if the son had the mother's name as a given or middle? Happy searching! 2. Anita Weaver
    3. For those interested in the BARTLETT family, I am the great-granddaughter of John Brady BARTLETT. He was born in West Virginia probably about 1850. I don't know a lot about him, but I was told he participated in the Oklahoma Stampede. He married Edith Lucyanna SCHENCK and they settled around Oskaloosa, Kansas. He died in Topeka and had very few possessions at that time. He was active in the Jehovah Witness faith. The SCHENCK family is well documented and has an annual family reunion in Topeka in September. If this information links with yours, I'd be happy to share information. Anita in MO P.S. My grandmother was Alverda "Belle" BARTLETT CAPP. She was John and Edith's daughter born in 1897. __________________________________________ Yahoo! DSL – Something to write home about. Just $16.99/mo. or less. dsl.yahoo.com

    1. Re: [KansasCity] About roll calls -- FARNSWORTH
    2. Frank, My Margaret Farnsworth (husband John H., born in NY) was in Wheeling, Ohio Co, WV in 1850. Is that anywhere near Lewis Co.? And do you have a NY connection? She is probably widowed in 1850, as it is just her and children on the census but marital status wasn't given in 1850. She and John were married in Belmont Co., OH in 1836. I have no idea why she/they went to WV. Some of her children from each marriage were born in VA/WV and some in Ohio. John H. might have died anywhere between 1845 and 1880 and anywhere from VA to OH to IA (Margaret lived in Winterset and Rock Island for a while) to Wyandotte Co., KS. I can't help being curious. A son Henry C. Farnsworth died in Topeka in 1917. Vanette

    2. The Dugan's
    3. Hello! I have some Bartlett's in my family tree. They married several Pearce ancestors....will be glad to give you any information that I have. It is not impossible that some of them were in MO. They were in Madison County, Illinois, about 30 minutes from St. Louis, Mo. 3. Vanette, Thanks for the response, but my Farnsworths do not appear to be very closely related to yours. Isaac Farnsworth, my gg-grandfather, and his wife Louisa set out in 1854 from their home in Lewis Co., Virginia (now WVA) with their children Granville, Louisa, Julia Anne, James K., and Emaline on their way to Kansas City, MO. Isaac died from cholera and was buried on the bank on the Missouri somewhere along the way, so Louisa and her 5 kids landed at Liberty Landing, so my Farnsworths are latecomers to K.C. compared to your Farnsworths.
