I believe there was a St Peter& Paul Cemetery located in what used to be considered the "downtown" part of KC somewhere around Broadway around the 15 to 10th street area- some of these old ones had bodies moved to Mount St. Marys, 22nd and Cleveland KCMO when it began. You might check with the diocese of KC and St. Joe for more info. Old St P&P church located 8th and Grand- had a great aunt baptised there..

Where is the St. Peter St. Paul cemetary located in Jackson County, MO? Who is the caretaker/record keeper of this cemetary? Looking for information on an infant buried there - Edith Wendel - died in 1914. Thanks. Karen Karen
Hi Denise, Can you see if you can find the father of Ralph E. Dewey who was born in KC in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Ralph's father died when he was between birth and 2 years of age. His mother then married a Cross and had a daughter Gertrude Cross. All help is greatly appreciated. Okay, now I have my Kansas City Library card. What can I do with it online? I am researching families in Wyandotte (KS), Jackson, and Buchanan Counties. What is available using the card that was restricted without it? Thanks for the help. ph
Yes, I messed up; I meant Jackson County. I've been all over Missouri researching a different line on a very distant relative on my father's side who just interests me, and got hung up on St. Joseph's. I can't remember which library I contacted in KC; it was online and I sent an email, then my inbox got hosed when I upgraded my Norton Security, got hosed again a couple weeks later, never happened in almost ten years I've been online. Anyway, those references will be helpful and I saved them. Thanks so much for that. I haven't decided quite how to go about this. I thought about asking on the city directories list for starters and go from there. Another branch of this same family has some records (Galesburg, IL) the courthouse won't or can't send me so I have to go in person concerning another brick wall, and I am going to have to drive there, 60 mi. I keep putting it off because I've been so busy on so many fronts, not all gen related. KC is too far right now and too expensive to travel. I'll keep plugging away on my Kansas City ones (these are on my mother's side and having White for a surname has been one uphill battle after another, and if I get too stuck, will just have to pay someone when I can fit it into the budget. In this branch of my family (all 3d or so cousins), just when I think I've found a living descendent (one out in Tacoma), I make a few phone calls and it is the wrong person. There may be none in that line, but I would expect at least one or two. I'm really eager to reunite this family, figuratively speaking. They really got scattered and I'm reasonably certain if any are living, they don't know the others exist or who and where they are. I've put most of it back together.
Frank, Just was able to return to the net (Had a toothache) (smiles) but thank you, I'm glad the marriage web site was helpful. Anything else I can help with feel free to ask my email address is [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) but you also can reach me this way. Denise
http://records.co.jackson.mo.us/localization/menu.asp Enter this address, put in last name of bride and groom (cuts out a lot of other names), follow the directions, click on search, click on the page image at the right edge. Next page will ask if you want PDF or TIFF, click on the one you want, next page says view the image in PDF format(my choice). Click on that. The image of the certificate will then come up. Use the printer icon at the top of the page, sit back and watch it print! The printer icon is the second from the left. If you feel I am talking "down" to you, I don't mean to, I am bringing up my own marriage step by step and making sure that I tell you exactly what I have done to print it. If this doesn't work for you or anyone else, I will be glad to print yours out and snail them to you - no cost! Susan
Hi Frank, Excuse the intrusion, but I have been able to print out the Jackson County marriage records with no problems. Don't know what I did that you wouldn't have done by following the directions, but I did it! Susan
I somehow, managed to miss the link on any posting for the Jackson County marriages. I am hoping the site will be posted again. I have been paying close attention, and look closely at those posted, for Price and Mattox surnames. I know I still have Mattox cousins in Kansas City. Maybe Frank is like me and didn't get that posting. I am glad this list is picking up. I really hate it when there begins to be nonsense posted because it ruins the fun of genealogy. I tried to find the list in the archives and have been unsuccessful thus far. Thank you. I don't know why I can't find it on browse all lists either. Alice
Hi Denise, Thanks for posting the Jackson Co. marriage records site. I was able to find half a dozen or so of my RECORDS kin by using the site and was able to view the image of the marriage documents also. Have you tried to download any images from the site? According to the documentation, that should be possible. However, when I try to print an image, no image is the result. And, yes, I did download a fresh version of Acrobat, so that should not be the problem. I can always send for a hard copy, so it isn't a significant problem, more of a frustrating aggravation. By the way, the e-mail that I sent to the address that you included in your posting was returned as "undeliverable." Thanks again for the information, Frank Weihs [email protected]
Sorry I've deleted your name, but thanks for posting the URL for the above site!! I thought I had all the online sites for MO records, but was able to find m. licenses for my granddaddy, his first wife who died, and his second wife, who was my grandmother. Also HIS mother's second marriage in KCMO 1892. I'm sure there are lots more. Thanks again. Joyce Lawrence, Dolores CO [email protected] (Hey, John, hope you aren't working too hard at your new digs.)
I ordered 5 and thought I received mine in a timely manner, seemed like no more than 4 weeks, 3 were correct, two were wrong people, sometimes have to guess with a surname like White. It was a very reasonable price, too, at $1 apiece. It seems some are missing from the index or never got entered in the first place, or died somewhere else, but overall, they have done a remarkable job getting that info online. Some states will not even allow you to have a death certificate unless you are a close relative. I am researching three siblings and their descendants, Benjamin F. White, Alvin W. White, Anna May White Stalker as follows, can't find anything on Thomas N. and Anna May White Stalker after 1900 in KC, MO; wrote the library, they don't index deaths I was told. All resided in Kansas City, St. Joseph County, Missouri after about 1895. Any advice on tracking down the rest of the descendants and filling in missing info would be appreciated. I have had to pay for research before and may have to on some of these as I can't get to Kansas City to do my own research. FIRST GENERATION 1. Joseph WHITE was born on 27 Sep 1840 in Lancashire, England. He resided in 1880 in Douglas, Union County, Iowa. 1880 Iowa Federal census. He resided in 1888 in Creston, Iowa. He was buried in Graceland Cemetery, Creston, Union County, Iowa. It appears no other members of the family are buried either in this cemetery or any other Creston cemetery. Me thinks the SOS of Mo was overwhelmed by the response they had to the Death data on line and for sure, it is not complete and there are errors in the records.
