PERRIN has withdrawn from actual business connection with the Martin-Perrin Mercantile company, dealers in wholesale liquors at 308 West Sixth street. Mr. PERRIN's chief cause for resigning his position as vice president of the company is ill health. He will still be connected with it as a stock-holder, however. The firm is one of the best known in the West, and has for its president E. L. MARTIN, the railroad and distillery magnate. It will be conducted under the same name as heretofore. Mr. PERRIN will possibly enter some less confining occupation. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ====================================================== neirbo8

    2. John O'Brien
    3. "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Tuesday, January 7, 1913 LODGERS DOWN A LADDER. A fire in the boarding house of J. A. KNAPP, 412 Ewing Avenue, in Sheffield, early yesterday morning might have caused the death of six persons had it not been for the 16-foot ladder that KNAPP had. An overheated furnace filled the 3-story stone building with smoke. Mr. and Mrs. Evert WYATT and Roy DAUBENBERGER were rescued from the third story and carried down the ladder by Lieut. Edward De LOUIS of fire station No. 21. Charley POE and Edward LILLIE were taken from the second floor. E. T. BRYANT, who occupied a front room on the second floor, and who has an artificial leg, experienced a little difficulty in buckling on that member. He dragged himself and leg out on the roof of the front porch and, after fastening it on, was rescued. The loss on the building and contents will amount to about $1,200, and is covered by insurance. KNAPP is a jeweler in Sheffield. ====================================================== (I have no connection with any of these families but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ======================================================
