    3. Hi Daniel, I'am doing research on the Kane family from Brooklyn. James J. Kane was born in Canada and his parents from England, they moved to Brooklyn. James is my great-great grandfather. A couple of relatives are from Ireland. I'd have to go through my stuff. I have papers all over plus brick walls and etc. Thanks Margaret Cicalese Daniel Gannon <dannnan1@bellsouth.net> wrote: Is there anyone on the list who is researching the KANE Surname in Brooklyn,NY and in County Cork,Ireland? 1. [KANE] JOHNSTON Family Photographs with connection to KANE Family
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the JOHNSTON Family. The first is of James JOHNSTON and the second of Mary JOHNSTON. Both photograph were taken at the Mayes Studio in Bloomington, Illinois, likely sometime in the 1890's or early 1900's. Both appear to have been in their 60's at the time the photographs were taken. Based on limited research I believe I was able to locate the couple in census records as follows: 1880 census of White Oak, IL: James JOHNSTON, age 46, a Farmer, born OH Mary J. JOHNSTON, wife, age 40, Keeping House 1900 census of Normal Township, IL: James JOHNSTON, age 66, born May 1834, married 40 years, born OH, parents born NJ/OH, a Landlord Mary J. JOHNSON, wife, age 60, born Mar 1840, married 40 years, no children, born OH, parents born OH Elsie KANE, niece, age 15, born Jul 1884, born MO, parents born OH/KY, at School I'm hoping to locate someone from this JOHNSTON Family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or if you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
