    3. Most of my Kane family come from New York, Brooklyn etc, Canada.  I will be in New York next at the archives.  I'll see if there is any marriage record for them.  Do you have a date of birth for the parents? 2. Hi Margaret, I have been a subscriber to this list for a few years. This is the first time that I have seen anyone`s name and location within the possibility of a family connection. My grandfather was JOSEPH KANE, born in Paterson, NJ in 1879, per death certif., (but 1877 per 1900 census). On his death certificate, his father was JAMES KANE and his mother was MARY MATTHEWS. Since your JAMES KANE has a "J." for a middle name, I`m wondering about a connection. Also, since Paterson, NJ and Brooklyn, NY aren`t too far apart, there could be a possibility. On the June 1, 1900 US Census for Paterson, NJ, JAMES KANE (born Feb.1835) is listed as a widower, living at 342 Grand St. with sons JOSEPH KANE (born May 1877), JAMES KANE (born Oct.1883) and daughters MARY KANE (born Apr.1879), AGNES KANE (born Mar.1881). Do any of these names or dates connect to your research? Thanks, Kathleen Kane
