Cannot find any other records for David's family anywhere. Here is the question, could Nancy be a grandaughter? How can somebody's family dissappear with no trace. His head stone is spelled JOSCELIN, why? Hope I haven't bothered you too much. Thanks anyway. Paul from Fl. now, upstate NY for 50.

Hi, I am looking for information on a Jay Potter Joslin. He was born on 14 March 1821 in possibly Van Rennselaer Co. New York, or possibly Oswego Co, New York. I am looking for his parents. He married Catherine Ann Seeber? 5 November 1840, possibly in Washingtonville, Oswego Co, New York. Would like to find his marriage record to confirm marriage. Jay Potter Joslin died 27 September 1864 in a field camp near Petersburg, VA. He was shot by a rebel sharpshooter during the Civil War. His place of residence prior to the Civil War was in the Town of Mitchell, Sheboygan Co, WI. Catherine Ann Seeber? was born 4 February 1822, in possibly Wampsville, Madison Co, NY. She died 26 August 1910 in Town of Little Wolf, Waupaca Co, WI. Her father I believe was David Seeber? and Mary Bennett. They had the following children: Permelia Geraldine Joslin Jay Van Rennselaer Joslin Squire Potter Joslin Ellen Delphine Joslin Mary Josephine Joslin (my gggrandmother) Eveline Susanna Joslin Orrin Chase Joslin William Sydney Joslin Shubal Joslin Blandine Joslin Prior to coming to Wisconsin, they lived in McHenry Co, IL. They came to Sheboygan Co, WI sometime between 1855 and 1858. Any help woould be greatly appreciated. Sharon A. Bowen
Hi, I just joined your group, so I don't know what subjects have been discussed in the past. From what I have seen on the web it makes me think that the Joslin name may be limited to a small number of familys. I am seaking the lineage of Isaac JOSLIN born about 1815 in PA or possibly NJ. He married Nancy PATE born about 1816 in VA on 12/11/1832 in Shelby Co IN. Their family migrated to IL then on to Nodaway Co MO. The 1870 federal census for Nodaway Co MO also shows a Josiah JOSLIN born about 1799 in NJ living in a nearby household. I have assumed him to be an older brother of Isaac's since his wife Margaret born about 1804 in PA is only 11 years older than Isaac. Isaac's daughter gave his state of birth as NJ in a later census while in the 1870 census it is given as PA. There are several other JOSLINS in nearby households where the names William and Josiah are repeated. Does anyone know anything that may help me? Thank you, David A. Lewis

Hello! This is my first posting to the list. Has anyone done any research on the Joslin lines in Northwest Missouri, specifically in the Andrew County area? My GGgrandmother, Nancy Popplewell, was married to an Eli Joslin in the late 1840s in Andrew Co., MO. Eli died while in his late 20s. Nancy then married my GGgrandfather, John Francis in Aug of 1858 in Andrew Co. Eli and Nancy had one daughter, Mary Mariah. Haven't never found what became of her. Mary was listed on the 1860 Polk Township, DeKalb Co., MO federal census living with John and Nancy. Would like to hear anyone researching these Joslins.

In reference to "unidentified subject" from Kim Joslin; I have a set of family group sheets provided to me by a Mrs. Rasmussen from southwestern part of Michigan. She is a descendent of a John Jenks Joslin who was a brother to Americ Joslin discussed in the obituary provided by Kim. Her groups sheets trace the ancestry for Americ (and John) back to the "original settler" Thomas Joslin and Rebecca Marlowe as follows; 1. Thomas Joslin (Rebecca Marlowe) 2. Abraham Joslin (Beatrice Hampson) 3. Thomas Joslin (Mary Vaughn) 4. Henry Joslin (Elizabeth Matteson) 5. Thomas Joslin (Sarah Potter) 6. Thomas Joslin (Eleanor Price) 7. Daniel Joslin (Martha Jenks) 8. Americ Madison Joslin (Margaret VanAllen). The group sheet for Americ shows children: Edwin b. 13 Jul. 1842 d. 30 Jul. 1911 Sarah Elizabeth b. 24 Oct 1845 d 20 Dec. 1924 Sp: ______ Hadley Thomas Madison b. 31 Jan 1844 d. 25 Jul. 1919 James William b. 29 Jun. 1847 d. 8 Jul. 1924 Mary Ann b. 1850 Sp: _______ Rexford Carrie Jane b. 2 Jul. 1852 Sp: _______ Rawdin Imogene b. 15 Sep. 1855 d. 31 Aug. 1897 Sp: _______ Lockwood John b. 6 Apr. 1856 d. 22 Oct 1944 Mrs. Rasmussen references "Portrait and Biographical Album of Oakland County", page 269. I will check the reference on my next stop at the Lake Orion, MI library. The North Oakland Gen. Soc. Has that book in their collection there. Walt Joslin
DEATH OF AMERIC JOSLIN March 19th, 1898 Americ M. Joslin was born Oct. 2nd,1812,at Cohocton,Stebun county N.Y.,which was also his boyhood home. When he was twenty years of age he came to Michigan. On July 28,1841 he was joined in marriage to Miss Margaret Jane Van Allen,at Washington,McComb county,Mich. After two years of residence in McCombs county,in the fall of 1849 they moved upon their farm two and a half miles northwest of Holly, which was their home from that time forward. They were spared to each other for fifty five years, Mrs. Joslin having departed this life Sept. 3rd. 1896. They were the parents of nine children, seven of whom grew to maturity, and six of whom are now living to at this time mourn the loss of both their parents,--four sons,Edward,Thomas,James, and John, and two daughters, Sarah, and the wife of Mr. D.D. Hadley, of Holly, and Caroline, the wife of Mr. Rowden, of Carp Lake, Mich. Since a period of severe illness almost a year ago, Mr. Joslin has been in feeble health. He at length breathed his last on Saturday, March 19th, 1898, at one o'clock in the morning, having attained the advanced age of 85 years five months and 17 days. The lives of himself and his father comprehended the entire space of time back to the Revolutionary days and the date of the Declaration of Independence, he having been the son of Daniel Joslin, who was born April 9th, 1776, and who was united in marriage with Miss Martha Jenks, who was born Feb 3rd, 1780. The date of their marriage was Nov. 15, 1798. In the family born to them, consisting of five sons and four daughters, the late deceased was the last one remaining, he having been next to the youngest in the order of their births. In the circle of neighbors and acquaintances among whom Mr. Joslin has for so long a time been a resident, he has always born a high character for integrity, and uprightness of life. He has long been waiting his release from the pains of disease and has been eager to go and meet the loved ones gone before. He died with his trust firmly placed in Christ as his Savior and with the assurance of entrance into the bliss of an eternal heavenly home. The funeral was under the charge of the Masonic fraternity, Rev. W.S. Buck conducting the services at the house on Sunday afternoon, March 29th, at two o'clock. A large concourse of people had gathered to pay their last sad respects to the memory of the departed. The internment was in the cemetery near his home, which had been originally laid out from land that had belonged to his own farm. Holly FIFTY YEAPIS AGO I I l ' From files of the Holly-Herald February 17, i910 , Clarence Joslin, formerly of Holly township, who has been working the Mac. Thompson farm north of Fenton, has made a deal with Fred Welch and Leonard Freeman, of Fenton, to take charge of their big sheep ranch in northern Michigan. His brother, A. W. Joslin, will work the whole Thompson farm of 520acres the coming year.
