    2. Devona G. Cook
    3. I am researching the JOCELIN/JOCELYN name in New Haven CT and am trying to determine who Augustus JOCELIN & Hannah BYINGTON 's children were. They would have been born after 1791. Where can I find birth records or christening records for this time frame? Augustus was a ME Minister who by 1817 was listed in the Cincinnati Census, he also lived in Brookville, Franklin Co., IN. I believe one of his daughters to be Nancy Elizabeth JOCELYN who married Watson LEWIS in Cincinnati in 1819. There appears to be a connection to Jared C. JOCELYN who also came to Cincinnati in about 1825 and moved on to New Albany, Floyd Co., IN by about 1830 where he was a Justice of the Peace. Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. Thanks, Dev

    3. I have info on this part of Joslins and Maine. Give me a day or two. Look up Scarborough just south of Portland. Name change.... Have been to the Historical Society. Joslin Hill is still noted in that town. Joslin Point or cove? also at Prout's Neck...but I want to have my facts straight..... John Joslin wrote two books; he is brother to Henry. They were also Joslins (perhaps both of them) on Isles of Shoals off coast of New Hampshire in 1630s. I'll be back... 3. Hello Joslin Searchers, In the seventh edition of "Ancestral Roots of Certain American Colonists who came to America Before 1700" by Frederick L. Weiss, it states on line 211 that Thomas Josslyn (Joslin) 1591-1661, of Lancaster, Mass, was fifth cousin of Henry and John Josselyn of Black Point, Maine. Can anyone help me with the ancestry of them all and just what their relationship was? Thank you in advance for any info. Regards, Erlene

    3. Hi All, Does anyone have any information regarding Nancy Elizabeth JOCELYN born about 1790's and married Watson LEWIS. The family resided in Cincinnati and Rising Sun, IN - Watson died before Nancy in about 1839 - I have a copy of his will and probate from Hamilton Co., OH. Nancy used the name Addison for either the first or middle names of two of her sons - I don't know why but it is possible that it was a family name. I found a Jared C. JOCELYN in the same time frame in Floyd Co., IN who also used Addison for a son's name - feel there must be a connection but cannot determine if Jared is a brother or uncle (seems too young to be her father). Would be very grateful for any help! Thanks, Dev Cook Monument, CO

    1. Elizabeth Josselyn and Noah Beals
    2. Walter & Valerie Joslin
    3. In the Edith Wessler book, "THE JOCELYN-JOSLIN-JOSLYN-JOSSELYN FAMILY," I find on page 95, an "Elizabeth Josselyn, b. 1724; m. Nov 20, 1746, Noah Beal, b. Nov. 26, 1722; A military man of Hingham; who m. (2) Oct 1752, Percilla Rice." Her father was Nathaniel of Hanover, Mass., 6th child of Henry, and born in Scituate, Mass., m. Frances Yellings. Nathaniel and Frances lived in Hanover, MA. Looking at the year in which Noah Beal merried a second time, it would seem unlikely that any of the children listed in the inquiry, except the oldest, Elizabeth, were the children of the 1st wife, Elizabeth Josselyn. They are more likely children by the second wife, Percilla Rice.

    3. Mary Ann Joslin is the only Joslin in my database. She married James S Meek sometime prior to probably in the 1860's. Their daughter Sallie Meek married Willis Hickam on 4 Sep 1883, probably in Spencer IN. She is the 3g-gm of my step-daughter. I recently remarried and I am trying to get her interested in genealogy while she is still young. Gene Phillips

Wessler and found no INEZ JOSSELYN. There is however on pg.#202 in the index an Inez Joslin [very possible name change] as usual for the Joslin's. It goes like this: Joseph and Dorothy ( Osgood ) Joslyn, had son Hooker b: 21 Apr 1791, ma: Lucia Davidson ; removed to Seneca, Illinois in 1846; died there in 1847. They had a son Leonard Bennett, b: 1825; d: 1905; m: w853, Lamora Malvina Marks, (1836-1915 ); children 1. Ida, b: 1854; Inez, b: in Wis. This may be not help but some times it works, hope this is one of those times. As always, searching Paul in Palm Bay, Fl. Surnames: Joslin/Joscelyn/Jocelin and Chapman
